I typically hate these Early access cash grab games, but I bought it since my friends were playing.

It runs like shit, is unoriginal, and repetitive, but it is addicting. If you are among the last 15 or so people in the game it feels pretty intense.
As for why it is selling like crazy I have no idea.

PUBG is not even remotely close to being what DayZ is.

DayZ is a realistic simulation with permadeath, you can play the game without killing, it also has persistence, everything stays the same, you spawn where you logged out, etc.

Its a natural evolution of people being done with Battlefield/CoD kill/death ratio games. PUBG will be done better by the end of next year, many studios can tweak existing formulas fairly easily and honestly 100 players isn't needed if Arma 3 worked fine at 64. I'd take 50 players with better mechanics, map and balance.
