Just finished it last night. Definitely enjoyable. It had a bit too many obscenities and the animation could've used a few more tweens at times. However, the atmosphere and fights were extremely entertaining and choreographed.

The problem here is that Alucard believed the illusion wholesale up until Lisa said something that was off, which means the opening scenario was probably true. The succubus was attempting to trick him so she would strive to make it as real and close to the truth as possible.

Also, you miss the point of the whole scene and the entire aspect of Alucard's relationship with Lisa. The whole point is yes, humans are corrupt little shitbags full of resentment, but Lisa still taught Alucard to love them and be merciful. Despite what they do, love them. That is the message of the scene. That is a Christian message. The whole point of demonstrating the corruption of humanity and the church is to create the possibility of a figure who is above that, a hero for the story. We haven't gotten that far in the Netflix series yet to really say but I am sure they will be addressing it with Alucard in the next season.

Honestly this. It was painfully boring and the pacing was a mess. Writing was mediocre and voice acting was fucking awful. Not one single actor put any effort or emotion into their performances. Lines were delivered in the same flat practically monotone from every single character, which was especially apparent in any action scenes where not a single character even raised their fucking voices. Animation was just only decent during action scenes and everything else felt like a motion comic. The music was bland as all fuck too and sound effects lacked any impact.

The action scenes also lacked any sense of tension or excitement as Trevor just fucking Mary Sues is way through every obstacle and at no point does he seem to be in any actual danger. The only scene that worked was the bar fight as Trevor was actually taking blows and not just shrugging them off. It felt like he was at risk of losing. Every other fight scene or even the scene where he and Sypha are falling through to Alucard's tomb lacked any tension as Trevor just immediately reacted to every single possible danger and effortlessly breezed through it. The fight with Alucard was almost the worst offender because he shrugged off every took he hit and they basically came off as calculated just so he could land a hit of his own. Trevor just comes across as a two dimensional "snarky badass" archetype with nothing to flesh his character out.

The violence and gore was pretty tacky as well. I'm fine with a series having it but Frederator Studios seemed to only be interested in pure shock value with how often it made it the focus of the scene.

It was a shitty series. I do not understand why everybody is fucking creaming their pants over it.

Dracula is not a good person. He doesn't respect human beings, and because of that felt no need to share his gifts with them. Lisa managed to get through to him and offered him an opportunity to live like a normal man, and when she was killed by the Bishop he went off the deep end.

There's a direct contrast between him and Trevor. While Trevor overcomes his feelings and teaches the people how to be better Dracula just wallows in his hatred.

Also, this is an origin story. Dracula was a legend at the time but wasn't synonymous with Satan like he is later down the timeline.

My biggest problem with it was just how dark and gory it was and giving Dracula the motivation they gave him. Castlevania games, to me personally, always came off as silly. You fight flea-men, bommerang skeletons and floating medusa heads. The plot has always been pretty straight foward "Drac's back kill him." I understand you can't make a show like that, I just wish they did.
