I'd like them too, to be honest. I always buy consoles at the end of their gens. For example I got a PS3 and no gaems for it for a really cheap price as it was no longer the "latest" console. If the PS4 is a huge success and there are more in circulation, they'll be cheaper second hand in a few years due to a larger supply.

The PS4 doing well will make me as an idort a few bucks better off.

I don't have a gaming PC, nor do I feel like building one. None of my friends game on PC, they own a PS4. If I wanna play online with them, I gotta buy a PS4. Finally, I love fighting games, and they're best played on PS4. Consider all those, and given the $170 price tag, the choice is easy. My previous console was the WiiU, and Nintendo made me feel like I missed out on a lot of stuff.

Compared to the money I spent on that ($300 + multiple $60 games), the PS4 was a bargain.

I've PC gamed all the way up to Gen 7, this gen I lack the hardware for, and don't feel like investing in it just yet. Especially with the spiked prices of graphics cards.
