ITT: Post hidden gems

>>385995762
I remember being fuken spooked by aliens when i was younger so it dissuaded me from renting this game when i saw it at blockbuster
Peter Jackson's King Kong The Official Game of the Movie
I unironically like this game.
>>385995762
ayy lmao
>>385995762
Maybe not hidden, but definitely underrated.
Go play Dark Messiah
>>385995762
I remember not liking this game at all. Sorry bro.
>>385995762
Ayy lmao
>>385995949
Fucking Underated post, this game is a diamond among hidden gems.
>>385995762
This game was a 10/10 rental but 6/10 buy
>>385999821
>Tricking people into playing Ganked by the Gimpies
No game that plays shot machine with your life and has railroads you into taking damage should be a gem to anyone
>>385996661
>dark messiah
>hidden gem
Um. What?
>>385995762
considering the franchise only has 2 good games and the latest installment was almost a decade ago, i guess destroy all humans qualifies. it also doesnt seem to emulate well for most people, so im sure its exposure is low. im sure the first game is older than most of this board. for those who dont know, 2004-5 was a great time for 3rd person open world sandbox games.
I never see people talk about it. Pretty trippy game.
>>386000560
Some of those are talked about on /v/ all the time.
>>385995949
I fucking love you
I really liked this
>>386000560
Soul Sacrifice Delta is a fantastic game stuck on a handheld that screams wasted potential. Needs a PS4 port/remake bad.
>Play this again years later
>Finally notice the multiple references and eastereggs to horror movies
>the cover in itself is probably a reference to Wes Craven's Shocker movie
>>386000523
Pretty sure this is on /v/'s recommended GBA list, but I can't disagree with you.
i really enjoined this game
the combat was titties
I know a lot of people didn't like them, but to me it just felt like Diablo 2: Neon Genesis Ghost in the Lain Edition. And that was a damn fun grindy good time to me. The newer ones were one of the best games near the end of the PS2's lifecycle, although I still prefer the older ones.
>>386002163
SAO before SAO was a thing.
The best part was the rich universe outside the game (the videos, the conspiracies, etc...).
>>385996772
Open thread with that in mind, not disappointed. Still remember plugging the extension to the PS to play with 4
>>386000560
>Shattered Horizon
Holy shit, I totally forgot about that one.
>>386001380
how was the second one? wasnt there a second one?
that enormous enemy walking around outside used to make my anxious
Massively umderrated.
I never see people ever even know of this games existance despite it being one of the best rythym games out there.
>>386002891
>>385995762
I loved that game when it came out. Great balance between fun shootan and spooky exploration. At least back then
Picrelated is one of the recent ones. Actually it's been pretty popular in certain circles, but it perfectly fits the 'hidden gem' term. Clunky as fuck, very unintuitive UI, unforgiving and even offputting at times, but man if you can bear through all the flaws AoD really starts to shine. Probably one of my favorite digs in last year.
>>385995875
This was my alwaysrentedoutatblockbuster-core game
Never got to play it
>>386000196
Well it's free now on PC, so does that make an 11/10?
>>386002675
It was pretty ass, if I recall correctly.
>>385995762
Last i checked this game became freeware and can be found without much effort to download.
>>386003324
>Free
Yeah, if you wanna get it off of the military's website with a shit ton of ads, it sure is free.
Has an unofficial patch to get rid of all of that shit though.
>>386000560
K&L2 wasn't very good at all Anon.
>>386002297
Yeah but the original games barely skimmed cliches the way that SAO was bursting at the veins with typical shonen bullshit, it was so refreshing

Even though GU went full weeb to an extent, its still a pretty solid plot with one of the best character arcs for the protag, let alone for one of the biggest certified edgelords in gaming history
>>386003674
Its the only game that got CINEMATIC GAMEPLAY right.
Play it on a modern system its a blast, short but fun.

>>386000579
>>386001007
Exalted taste, gentlemen.
I was younger when I played it but I really enjoyed it
>>385995762
>>386000579
>we will never get DAH HD
I hardly see this game mentioned anywhere but random /v/ threads
>>386004186
It's okay but not a hidden gem by any means.
>>386004429
Tried it some years ago but my PC was too advanced for it. Flickering everywhere. Sad.
>>386002996
excellent taste, anon.
>>386004640
Same. Arx Libertalis helps
>>386004640
Arx Libertatis source port.
No excuses any more.
pic related
>>385995762
No such thing exists. Gems are always shiny and in the open. Obscure stuff is unpopular because it sucks.
Not everything popular is good, but everything good is popular.
>>385996364
i had it on xbox but it always just made me wanna play tony hawk
>>385995762
>play as david duchovny
>fighting on the moon landing set
it was fun
>>386000196
unfortunately this
>>386000560
>Creeper World 3
This nigga gets it, those games are legit good.
>>386000560
>Shinobi for 3DS but not Shinobi for PS2
>>386004117
its dog shit with shaky ass camera
>>386005496
Shinobi for PS2 was kinda popular tho.
It was the best ninja game ever, until Tenchu WH was released.
>>386000625
Fucking love it
Played the music mode with dnb on my ps3
>>386005227
Good one dude
>>386005701
Then why is Tenchu WH there?
>>385995762
>The game has shotguns that have not 2 or 3 but 4 barrels on them
>You can fire each barrel individually or all together
>You can dual wield these shotguns
Never have i been so hard since.
>>386005794
Because that list sucks.
Bloodrayne is not "hidden" either. They even make a shitty movie based on it.
>>386006006
Did Bloodrayne even have a Playboy about it?
>>386004803
It got a steam release too, was so fucking stoked to see that.
>>386005593
meme ahahhaha memes
>>385996661
How do you even get gameplay like this without using a Tool? Is there like, deterministic physics AND deterministic AI?
>>386004163
So.Fucking.Good.
>huge open world envrionments FILLED with unlockables
>unlockables are fucking weapons
>those amazing boss battles
>cruising around at 100 mph and transforming
>being able to jump on decepticon troop transports and ride them through the world
such an underrated game, just as good if not better than WFC and FoC
Masterpiece
Armed & Dangerous
probably one of the best games on the original xbox, no lie
PLEASE BE NICE TO ME
>>386005360
A real shame that the sequel sucks
>>386003379
>>386002675
Yeah, the sequel was in many ways inferior to the original
>forcing in the Halo/CoD 2 weapon slot inventory
>can't save pills for later when you need them
>jumpscare images that pop up not nearly as scary/disturbing as the first
>forced in human military enemies that make no sense being included in the story
>half-assed explanation on the monsters existence that doesn't even really explain or make sense, ruins the mysterious nature of them in a way
>blood and gore feels toned down compared to the first's
>level design not nearly as memorable or varied like the last game's
>Returning monster designs not as original as the last, like mainliners, slayers or marksmen
Only thing the game had going for it was that the monster designs for the new monsters were pretty good (despite their representations being boring) and your monster transformations were neat and even more fun to use (appearance changes depending on what alignment you were). Otherwise, the game just wasn't as good
>>386006204
Yeah I was incredibly hyped for the steam release especially since I waited 3+ years for it
>>386000560
Kinda weird to put Shattered Horizons on there. Isn't it shut down? You can't play it anymore.
>>386009549
Can't you play it against bots?
>>386007858
Used to play the hell out of this. Got to the part where you play alongside multiple other nomads or whatever it was and that part just kicked my ass. Really great game and unique concept, flying island RTS is the tits. A shame barely anyone knows about this, let alone remembers it.
Not sure what the popularity status of this game is but this is definitely a great horror game nobody seems to talk about.and Year Walk
Well, it's not hidden but definitely underrated.
>>386005496
3DS Shinobi is probably also the worst entry in the Shinobi series
Not surprising considering it was a shovelware company who made it. I don't know why sega just gave one of their flagship titles to a literally who company
>>386000161
>activate zombie mode
>Tank reduces me to a pair of walking legs
As with all hidden gems games, it does have its share of problems
>>385995762
This game, man.
I barely thought it would live up to the hype, let alone exceed it. I've been playing for four hours straight across only two systems and about five planets/moons, and it has been absolutely and utterly humbling. My breath is being taken away at every turn.
I just drowned trying desperately to make my way out of a dark underwater cave on a cold, lonely, massive planet, with ominous growling startling me from far across some rocky, eroded mountains against the backdrop of a massive dark blue system. Earlier I was marveling at a herd of grazing antelope-like creatures on a little yellow paradise of a moon with a pink sky. Creatures were screeching in the distance and tinkling piano chords played in the background.
I very much appreciate the technical and leveling aspects such as mining and trading, but most of all, this game has been an extremely emotional experience for me so far. I could barely pull myself away from my first system once I acquired the warp cell. No matter what I'm looking at, I have this excitement and this wonder and frustration that I am inevitably missing so much. I have never, EVER felt this lost. Space just beckons, wordlessly. What a beautiful, beautiful, titanic game. I have no words.
Enjoy, everyone. And thank you, Ayy Lmao and Area 51 Games. Jeez Louise.
>>386006768
I love this game and you for posting this Anon. Please marry me.
It's okay, nothing super special, but it's not well known
>>386010332
aesthetic doesn't seem to be one of them
>>386002524
I don't know what possessed me to buy this game but I fucking loved it. I really liked how it was challenging even though I was invincible
>>385995762
Not exactly as hidden as many other games but considering that its basically a gem to the point its the best zelda and still shits on every single zelda to this day..

>>386000161
The absolute best tactical shooter I've ever played. Still makes my dick diamonds to this day.
I wish there was another game that made such good use of motion controls. This is what the Wii was made for, alas I don't think there is any other FPS with motion controls that compares.
