You know there's a lot of things I dislike about BlazBlue. Some of the character designs are pretty bad, the story doesn't make sense and the game is imbalanced as fuck, but I can't help coming back to it time and time again. Is Es a good beginning character? I bought her along with the game and the rest of the character DLC last weekend, and she feels really good and fun to play. It's nice to have a character with long normals, a versatile toolkit, and a relative lack of gimmicks.

Personally I like GG more for when I want to get serious and buckle down to do labwork and competitive shit and BB for when I want to relax with friends and just fuck around. There's so many characters, there's almost always something stupid or fun you'll stumble into that you didn't know before.

Are the 30 minute corner rapes really too integral part of of BlazBlue or do even some of it fans sometimes think they should be toned down a bit? Way too many rounds seem to go like: one player gains the momentum and it's just one-sided offense from that character until the end of the round, even with equally skilled players.

That's actually a fair complaint. I'm more worried they'll bend the knee to powerlevel fags too hard and make characters like Krillen only good for assists. Seeing how he and Piccolo function is going to make or break the game for me both in terms of viability against sayian faggotry/ power levels as well as character complexity and archtype/ move variety.

What I've seen so far looks like it will be fun to throw in and fuck around with a bit, but I'm not really seeing the depth yet. Only having quarter circles and down-down to work with for special inputs is also concerning. At the very least it'll be pretty different.
