Crashed at the end of the update, rebooted and it shrieked out 3 horrible beeps and crashed hard. Unplugged it and it was painfully hot to touch. It's cooling off now. Has this happened to anyone else?
Sorry to hear it for you. This is the first instance I've read.

You might need a new internal fan. Sony is too fucking cheap to make a console with proper cooling, so they just ramp up the fans to 11.
Monitoring thread for possible happening.
My PS4 Pro doesn't have this problem.

My slim is still good after the update no issues at all. Sucks man.
My only problem so far is that a year ago mine was randomly ejecting discs in the middle of the night which made me shat my pants everytime.
Then it never happened again after a couple of days.

That happened a week after bought mine. It just turned on and ejected the disk with a loud beep. That was the last time I left the Ethernet cable in my PS4 without supervision.
