Who thought the sharkjump point for wasn't any of the earlier acts, and not even act 5 or hivebent, but just sliiiiightly after ministrife?

Feels like dangling plotlines were either explained in the laziest most non-mindblowing way possible, or just ignored altogether.

The point of Vriska's character was that she needed to realize it was bad that she kept bossing around other people and needing to be the star, but then she ended up saving the day by bossing around all the characters and being the star.

I agree the story was completely unsaveable by some point in Act 6. The Alpha kid part was slow and a little boring, but it could have turned out OK (it didn't).

Homestuck was so ambitious, the first chapters were wonderful, the worldbuilding, the simple but fun characters, the banter and chemistry. It all had an unique style that so far hasn't been emulated or repeated.
Then Act 6 came. Then the hiatus came, and Hussie just forgot. He forgot how to write, how to draw, how to be funny. He just stopped. I genuinely have no idea about what the fuck happened to him that just made him shit the bed. The comic became a convoluted joke, the characters became walking tumblr stereotypes and the whole thing just started to become a tumblr pandering fest. It's really sad.

Tabletop games will never be as good for SBURB as vidya could. A huge part of SBURB is the fact that the players spend a lot of time apart doing their own things, or forming temporary groups. That's not something you really want to do in a tabletop. You'd also be really limited as far as max players go; no real chance at a 24 player session.

There was so much to love and it all went to shit. There will always be a part of me that wishes homestuck didn't end the way it did.

If they're not just spending money on hookers and blow, I imagine the holdup with the game is that they went way out of scope. What I mean is, you know how in adventure games, if an object isn't compatible with something, you get a generic response that you can't do that? They wanted to make responses for literally anything you'd want to try. Which sounds cool, but that means it's going to take a lot longer to implement and test. I think there's a reason professional adventure game studios never made responses to EVERYTHING. On a side note, I actually like generic responses because it tells you that you're not anywhere close to a solution. It gives you a hint to try something else. They also wanted alternate, branching paths too I think.

Maybe their programmers just fucking suck though. I'm guessing that's the actual reason. Hussie's terrible at hiring people unless it's for music. All he does is hire his friends and Homestuck fans, and of course you know how the average Homestuck fan is. Don't the artists outnumber the programmers too? Maybe they need enough to fill in the animations that are just keyframes. You know what would be nice? If Hussie ever updated the people that gave him $2.5 million on just what the hell is going on.

The delay is from starting over completely from scratch multiple times. Most recently in 2015, when they totally shuttered their game studio startup and reverted to a tiny, geographically distributed team of mostly long-time Homestuck contributors, enormously shrinking the games vision to match.

Hiveswap has only actually been in development a little less than two years. All the enormous effort put into the 3D graphics of the 'What Pumpkin Studios' version was simply dumped. Most likely everything they've ever said since then, about the status of the games completion, has been a knowing lie to keep backers pacified as they kept churning away on what will most likely end up as a glorified flash game, an expanded version of the same kind of interactive segments in the comic itself.

After my friend and I binged SJ to prepare for the final season, watching the new season there are many immediate differences, but I think up until about ep4 or 5 they were on track to give it a fulfilling ending. but the number of eps they were given was cut somewhat short of what they asked for, and as a result most of the scenes that would've fleshed out the love interest girl more never aired. It feels like there are two or three episodes of development between Ashi and Jack just missing that lessens the impact her scenes have in the finale, even setting aside how crucial she ends up being to the final plot rather than Jack himself. she just starts deus-exing it the fuck up

Eventually everyone dies so John travels back in time to stop Vriska from dying, and she somehow saves the day. Keep in mind this erased YEARS of events of the comic, from like 2011 to 2015. The comic ends with different copies of the characters we followed for years. Also, everyone turned gay and Dave ranted about toxic masculinity. He is also Karkat's boyfriend and he cried that Bro abused him. Also, Hussie didn't care about tying up any loose ends so they just make the universe and the comic just stops.

Hussie had far too much build up for any ending to ever satisfy, but what he tried to do was style and density of animation over quantity/length, which didn't make much of an impact because it left so many questions unanswered.

Much later after a mass dispersing of mostly-disappointed fans, so much later I don't know why it took so long, he released an actual "ending credits" sequence with panels added in showing the actual fates of most of the remaining cast and what they went on to do.
