What's the ideal $/hour ratio for a game?

Effectively irrelevant. Quality > quantity. I mean sure, don't give me only 30 minutes of 10/10 gameplay or something. Actually no, I can't say that. I'd rather play Megaman 9 than any given mediocre but long as fuck game. Same with something like Tearaway, which I adored but is a handful of hours long, nor does it even have replayability.

When I play a game I expect to get an experience. Whether that experience is drawn out over a long time period or a short one doesn't matter, what matters is that the experience is good and memorable. I think it's sad that developers need to pad their games with filler in order to satisfy people like you because that generally detracts from the game.

I don't think that's the right way to look at it. You should be thinking in terms what you else you'd rather buy for that same price. A nice dinner or a movie ticket costs way more per hours spent, but you're still likely to come home satisfied.

Out Run is no shit five minutes long and its one of the best paced and replayable games ever designed.

$/hour is for cucks with way too much free time. The majority of games out there are filled with pointless bullshit that is dedicated to padding the gametime so that the publishers can put "whoa [GAME] is gonna take you 35 hours+ gameboys!" on the box and in the reviews. I personally enjoy games that are between 6 and 15 hours, although if a game is good and has more NEW content/ideas I don't mind if it goes on for longer. The biggest issue is the sense of doing the same shit over and over, which has become especially annoying now that every other game is an open-world list clearing exercise.

Probably going to get shit for this but I think TW3 is a good example. The game didn't need half of that shit, just give me the best side missions and the main story. If you want to add 100+ side missions that's fine but the problem is that most of them are the same. Quick Travel to X, ride roach to Y, stumble around with batman vision, fight some mobs or a generic monster, a quick bit of dialogue, some more horse riding and then a tiny reward that is barely worth it. Who cares? What is the point of making all of those? Give me a rideable bear or something interesting instead plz CD projekt

I never spend money a game that I will only play once, which automatically brings me down to about 0.50/hr by default

I dropped Batman Arkham Knight because of this, I started playing and I quickly realized that I was going to miss out on a shit ton of content unless I started to waste time looking for shit that gives me a 1% completion towards a most wanted mission.

I'm up to a point where I ask people how long it took them to finish the game, if it's 60+ hours I just pass unless the game looks absolutely fantastic and a must play. Otherwise that's a game I'm never going to finish because I don't have the time nor the interest.
