Microsoft thought they had the gaming market cornered so they tried to expand to the everyday consumer rather than just gamers by way of non gaming related features.
They also went to attempt to add features that would be detrimental to the consumer but lucrative for them.
The console is also not as powerful as its competitor.

The announcement. Microsoft shot themselves in the foot when they forced kinect integration and tried to remove used games. Sony didn't have to do anything this gen besides announce a PS3 successor and show off a few games at e3.

lacked the appeal of the casual market compared to something like the ps4 which had the power and marketing.

that being said, i still enjoy my xbox one but only because all my close friends play on it. about to jump on some bf4 with a few friends now.

Although not even just a problem with Xbone, I feel like games aren't being made as much, maybe because of the rise of shitty indie games, it just doesn't seem like games are coming out the way they used to in the previous generations

It's been fucked since launch. The E3 before launch pretty much made certain that the majority of consumers would get a PS4 rather than an Xbox One. I remember the hype the PS4 reveal caused and how little hype there was for the Xbox One in comparison.

FH3 and Halo 5 are two of the best games of the gen, H5 isn't fully on the PC, SSOD, Rare Replay, and GoW are good too and it also has the largest Titanfall community
