I don't understand why no other online RPGs don't have offline mode that you can grind and transfer over to the online mode. All pc is doing online multiplayer is doing dungeons and lobby interactivity. The grind never needed to be online, it is a waste of server load. This game spoiled me. There's no real balance changes aside custom events and weekly kill milestone boosts that boost drop rates, meseta, experience, and rare creature appearance rate if you beat the previous week.

and there are no custom item. There is however, a custom negate/heal unit in the works so Dark flow users stop pissing and whining, but other than and a buncha custom QoL commands it's all vanilla. Even darkflow/meteor are combo locked.

It's the only server worth it right now. Ultima's economy is ruled by donations and donator tickets, and is horribly imbalanced, schtserv has 6 players on average, eden is officially dead.

The game is indeed great, but I can never play it for too long. I usually beat normal and quit half way through hard mode.
I've never actually made it to ultimate, despite having played this game like 4+ times, all the way from the dreamcast days, to the gamecube days and now to the PC days. I get bored because Normal, Hard and quite possibly very hard just feel like filler. Maybe it's because I play alone, but it's so damn dull doing the same shit all over again.
I have a Fomar right now, that I've just stopped playing yesterday after hitting hard mode. He was fun as shit but I will never make it to ultimate mode.

Also, another HUGE complaint I have is that episode 2 and episode 4 simply do not fit into the leveling process. Maybe it all fixes itself on ultimate, but if I go through the episode 1 story on normal / hard mode, I'll be way too overleveled for episode 2 or episode 4, meaning I might as well just move onto very hard.
I went to the first area of episode 4 at level 19 and do you want to know what was dropping? Handguns and Sabers. Literally Forest tier items. Like what the fuck man?

I really wish the leveling route made more fucking sense.

Phantasy Star 4 was a tight closure of the series. PSO and PSIV had at least a half of a decade release gap and are two generations apart. PSO had nothing to do with death of mainline PS, it was just a rare good business decision from Sega. They just followed the market.

Combat gameplay is simple but expands itself as you progress to add "depth" to it rather than just adding gimmick commands on top of it, amazing soundtrack with natural transition between combat and exploration, best collection of equipment I've ever seen in a game (even if compared to Diablo and clones), the game always surprises you by creating expectations then breaking them in wonderful ways (like secret weapon types).
