It LITERALLY is not the same. Dlc is unlimited and able to be purchased as long as the store is up. Name 1 (one) time dlc has had a limited run and has been "sold out" on an e store. Name 1 (one) time someone sold you a dlc card for more than what they paid.

The issue is not charging for extra content. It's the fact that there are a finite amount of these created and people horde them and resell for profit. If amiibos were only cosmetic or convenience factors (BoTW does this well) it wouldn't be an issue; locking an ENTIRE game mode behind something that isn't accessible to all at any time is bullshit.

Wrong, backtracking is always implemented brilliantly because each time you pick up an upgrade it completely recontextualizes the entire map and you find shortcuts and ways to reduce travel time. Lower Brinstar is the most revisited area in Super Metroid and it's only visited four times but each time is different because you come back with a new item.

The only game where backtracking is poorly done is Prime 2 because half of the Sky Temple Keys were stupidly gated behind the game's last upgrade but 2D games are different from the Prime games in many ways.

It felt like things were actually happening, like there actually was a force opposing you, the SA-X would look for you, or block your progress, sometimes even open new areas. Nightmare trashed ARC, the security robot blew open areas in PYR, what started as a simple milk run in TRO turned into a labrynthian maze of vines to escape the area after you become trapped, then later the area evolves AGAIN, as the plants grow. I never understood the hate for fusion.

This just doesn't seem right. I'm thrilled we're getting more mainline Metroid games, but torn on these amiibo locked features causing me to spend more rather than play more. It does make the fight easy. It really does. Even damage to all four armor plates, and destroys it's canons almost instantly. After a few bombs, the plates are destroyed and you can beamspam the core.

Right now, when we do know exactly what they do in the game, it hasn't been uncommon for me to see people complaining that these Amiibos aren't so easy to come by anymore.

The Fusion suit in Prime was purely cosmetic and added nothing more than a texture change. Metroid Fusion was also an actual game that I could play and provided long term value opposed to an amiibo which is scan and done. The amiibo in this case is also locking away content that is pertinent to gameplay because it's an entire difficulty mode that is otherwise unobtainable.

Pretty sure that most people who wanted the fusion suit in prime already had a gba and fusion, and I don't know what the price for them were back then, you can get a link cable for around $2 now.
Also considering the fact that fusion is a fucking game and the gba is a handheld console, not to mention that the suit was purely cosmetic, while the amiibo locks away an entire fucking difficulty level
