The whole Yoko sidequest was excellent. We got to see that the Orthodoxy was an even bigger piece of shit than we could have imagined, everything about Ringabel, the return of the boss music from Default, and the best line of dialogue in the game.

I haven't played Second in a while, so my memory's a bit fuzzy, but she did hide the entirety of Caldisla from everyone so Anne couldn't find it. She also took the Great Plague into her body before the Orthodoxy went full retard and was the keeper of the Seven Deadly Sins. So she's not quite evil, since those things were done for the benefit of people, but I wouldn't call her a nice person. She did antagonize Yew and company just because she found it funny.

You should absolutely finish Default. The finale kicks ass. However, going from turbo-powerful characters that break the game into pieces back to level 1 scrubs in the same battle style is what caused me to drop Second initially. Play something in between, then jump into Second. It's got a lot of QoL changes that I'm sure you'll love.

Is Bravely Second worth playing?

I enjoyed Bravely Default to an extent - gameplay was fairly tight, enjoyed the world building, story was ok. I loved Ringable and Edea, and I could put up with Tiz, but fucking Agnes KILLED the story for me and I couldn't finish the game.

I heard Edea is back in Second, but Ringabel is gone. Is it worth it now that Agnes is GONE, even though they got rid of best character?

Agnes is still a character that the party converses with regularly, but she's like the Airy of the group in that she isn't part of the main dynamic. Second does some cool things with the gameplay, like a number of new classes that play more with the idea of using multiple actions at once.

I'd say that you should finish Default, though. Second gives a recap of the events, but it's still a continuation of a singular storyline.

Tiz is kind of boring in this one, same with Edea. The new writer didn't really do a good job with the characters' personalities.

New Agnes is not a bitch in this one, she actually grew up. Yew just seems like not-Tiz, and Agnolia is basically just dick hungry for Yew, not the sassy and sexy version we were introduced to in the teaser.

I think this is a game that had a lot of potential story wise and character wise, but they fucked it up.

Well, there's no objective reason, as long as you don't hit a wall. The optional side quests in the later chapters can be pretty brutal.
