at first i was a little alienated by the battle system and the absence of cutscenes but as I played it I absolutely loved it.

Tabata should absolutely be given a big budget. he managed to shape Nomura's random seemingly inapplicable ideas into a proper game. I mean nomura is a great fucking designer but he is shit at directing games.

ATB and all other individual queued turn systems are extremely boring and casual, especially in regards to how healing is handled.

Turns need to be the full party's script to allow for any sort of tension or strategic thinking.

this game's battle system is seriously fun as fuck. once you unlock every ability for noctis the games combat feels much better, especially since you can do an aerial recovery type thing. dodging attacks with the air dance is fun but also the zwill crossblades are insane.

It's just kind of bland and it underutilizes its cast of characters.
Plus there's plot points in the dumb movie that they should have just included in the game.

Go away ancientfag and take your turn based boredom with you. The combat system is amazing, only downside being the spells that hit the three stooges every time you cast them.

shin megami tensei games did turn based so well, they killed the system for any other game.

that said a FF akin to Valkyria Chronicles, turn based with tactics in a fully 3D environment would be fucking awesome.

This game was actually fine until the train. After that it turned into garbage. This game is only second to Bionic Commando in obviousness in the shit they cut out for time.

What was the deal with Ardyn anyway?
I don't remember the main game ever really going into why he's the bad guy. He just seems to be a footnote in the story for most of the game.

Been playing FF5 for the first time recently just got to world 3. Game's pretty fun,
yo. and Exdeath just seems so much more well realized than Ardyn that it's kind of ridiculous. It's not like Exdeath's a deep villain or anything, but he such a greater presence.

Combat system having a low entry point and a high skill ceiling but due to the way the game is designed (and trying to appeal to newcomers and veterans) you can basically Hold O to win most encounters
Parts of the story happen off screen and are told to you though missable newspapers or radio broadcasts
Stuff cut out and sold back as DLC
Only able to accept one hunt at a time
Only able to have one mission marker active on the map at a time
Luna was such a non character I did not give a fuck when she died. Is back when SHE IS THE MAIN LOVE INTEREST.
Overall felt like an Early Access game

when I got the Platinum I have not gone back to touch it to see if it got better.
