XII got a reMAKE for a host of good reasons.

IX doesn't need a remaster and it damn sure doesn't need a remake. If the steam version had only been able to use the actual background art that Square had lost years ago then that version would be the difinitive one.

VIII and IX would require a lot of work to remaster due to the fact that none of the original assets exist. Both games used pre-rendered backgrounds. They'd have to recreate a lot of stuff from scratch.

It is a remaster. The amount of changes between IZJS and ZA are not extensive enough to call it a remake.
