Persona 5 has the same issues as Persona 4 except turned up to 11, the characters all act like weird aliens and are completely unrelatable.

I feel like such a dumdum because I spent 60 buckaroos for this game (having never played a persona game before) and I honestly don't know if I like it enough to finish it. I just beat the first castle.
stylistically it's very nice but the characters are cookie cutter anime garbage and the main character is as bland as water

I didn't play P1 or 2, don't fuckin know. They look cool but I hate emulating shit.

PERSONA 3
Was a pretty good game. I only played portable and feel like I gimped myself but the story and characters were good, great even.
BUT the pacing was all over the fucking place and the ending was straight out of the shonen asspull playbook. The "here have a way out with no real reasoning" thing, not the protag dying, that shit was cool and ballsy.
Also the school life simulator was more fun than the combat how do you fuck that up??

PERSONA 4
WAY better gameplay, right off the bat, still kinda monotonous but it was aight. Characters are a lot more likable at first...which is a problem. They either stay the same way throughout the story or actually get worse, like Yosuke and Rise. Only perfect character was Kanji. Tonewise its a lot prettier and livelier which makes the game comfy as fuck and makes you care about the cast, cardboard cutouts they may be. It bothers me when people compare the tone of 3 to that of 4.

PERSONA 5!
Now okay, they went all out balls to the wall for this one. The game is fuckin gorgeous and stylish but also pretty damn comfy and fun, like they fused the best parts of 3 and 4. School life and character interactions are great, and the combat is the best the series has seen.
MY MAIN ISSUE is that this shit does not feel like a game half the time. It feels like a tour through a theme park. You're given a strict time allotment to do a dungeon, which the game will remind at every fucking turn still needs to get done, and then the game screeches to a halt to let you do social shit while you wait for the plot to advance. The last two games might have done this a bit, but not to 5's levels of autism. Morgana forcing you to skip WEEKS worth of time to do shit makes it even worse, with literally no good reason. Thats a damn shame

Are you suggesting that P3 and 4 have multilayered characters or amazing twists? P3 is the only one with a great ending, but then The Answer shits on it anyway, and P4 and 5 have fine endings even if they're not amazing. All the games have good soundtracks. I'm not saying it's the greatest game of all time or anything, but it#s more than deserving of much of the praise it has gotten and you would have to be retarded to not recognize how many ways it improved on P3 and 4. It was lacking in some regards, but unless your definition of overrated is that it's not perfect, it's not overrated.
