Out of the three MMO archetypes they're the most reactive and least proactive. This means that they're usually the simplest to play since the role will require less quick decision making.

Combine that simplicity with an unaggressive supporting role and you've got a job that bores a ton of people to death. This means healers are almost always in demand, which mean healers get pissy little attitudes. They demand attaboys for doing their fucking job because they know full well they can take their ball and go home to fuck everyone else over. The attitude and the bitchwork status of the role breeds resentment in the rest of the party.

This isn't even touching on the pathetic sissy shit that's been gaining traction or accounting for different games, but it explains the gist of it.

When you kids get out of trench tier you'll realise that they just require different skills. Healers require less mechanically but more situational awareness.

Personally I'm a DM god and having a healer that enables me to continually take duels and play aggressively is the best thing ever. You'll learn to spot good healers and you'll play around them, switching from aggro to defensive when needed - and the same applies in reverse, good healers will notice good dps and prioritise their safety.

They like to think that supporting people is less alpha. That it's for betas. No really i've read this shit in the ingame chat. I bought the game to play pharah and widowmaker, but noticed really quickly that almost nobody plays healer. But i wanted to win instead of running for healthpacks so i picked this character because the others are shit at healing and can't rezz.

Initially i didn't like playing her much, but over time i learned to enjoy it. It's really fun to rezz people in the middle of the enemy team and watch them panic when they realize their predicament and frantically try to survive. To watch 2 players have a 1v1 knowing that if your team mate loses the duel, you can bring them back instantly to 100% hp and watch them kill their nemesis with a vengeance. Rezzing a reaper who died in the middle of the enemy team knowing he has his ult up. Keeping someone dead when you could rezz them just to have a few seconds of invulnerability when you whip out your gun to kill that fucking genji who's coming for you. Piggybacking on that pharah/genji/junkrat in the air and flying constantly on maps with a lot of vertical terrain and ambushing people from above.

I could go on. It's fun. Oh and the gun is really good. Like scary good.
