I never really do it. I always like to judge a game based on the developer's intent.

Not too big of a fan of mods that give OP weapons or make the game drastically easier (Unless it is a annoying feature, like weight in Elder Scrolls/Modern Fallout games).

I also generally like to play a game vanilla the first time around unless there are some decent visual mods/quality of life stuff/custom patches.

Also never been a big fan of absurd stuff that would not fit in that game's setting, but I don't mind it as much when I beat the game and I am just fucking around.

Anywhere between a good way to breathe some fresh air into games once you've beaten them and an absolute necessity for some games. Removing stupid filters in New Vegas so it doesn't look like the Mojave is situated in a marmalade jar for instance.

I've only played one game modded: DA2.

It was a not-so-great game. One mod I used fixed a couple of the hideous character models. Aveline particularly looked like an ogre pre-modding.

depends of what kind of mods are there. skyrim have a few top tier mods that are now a must for me to play.
Dawn of war is great and all but with mods you get a way more complex gameplay
either that or my friends sucks dicks at vanilla, i always fuck their shit up with imperial guard
