I own a 3DS and no Switch but I agree with this. I am sick to death of its shit hardware and resolution, so it bothers me that devs are still wasting their efforts working on it. Basically, physical also hits elemental weaknesses, physical costs HP and it can land critical hits which grants boost effects. Also, magic costs an assload. Maragi costs something like 28 SP. You can cast 10 Maragis lategame, when characters start to have about 280 SP.

Magic costs SP which is hard to recover without super rare/expensive items. Physical attacks cost HP which is infinite as long as you don't die all at once and there's even infinite recovery items you can unlock (that can only be used during fights). And yeah magic got a free turn with no SP cost if you hit their weakness but it costs SP to start with while physical attacks can get the same free bonus from hitting the enemy weakness or from critical hits. Also melee characters crit all the damn time so most of the attacks didn't even cost HP, especially with the abundance of row piercing and multi-hit moves. It's so bad that if you want a dedicated healer you had to give him/her a sub-persona with multi-hit physical attacks to keep them going through long fights.

It might be because I branched out into mainline SMT games shortly after starting with P4, but none of that shit bothered me at all.

Drawing your own map was a bit tedious sometimes, but I had a lot of fun with it.

The games is incredibly slow paced, not having 3D models dispalyed is fuckig lazy, removing the way in which you get to know other characters in a game where the main fucking appeal is seeing characters interact was fucking dumb (and also has nothing to do with "EO dugeon design"), the encounter rate is way too high which combined with the fact that battles pose virtually no threat and the combat system is incredibly shallow just makes everything tedious. My main problem is the fucking Boost system, which like One More means that battles never pose a threat after you learn an enemy's weakness, but also means that you don't have to expend SP or items to win, so battles don't even sap your resources, making them literally just wastes of time. Switch is an entirely different device. EO in particular is designed to work on 3DS and the dev team is experienced in making it work on 3DS/DS. A better resolution would change almost nothing for EO/PQ, as the graphics are slightly below average quality 3D models and several 2D textures propped up to simulate an environment rather than modeling one entirely. There's plenty of games to bitch about resolution being low on, like the ridiculously high poly models in Pokemon, but EO is not one and is largely unaffected by the resolution of the 3DS.
