Quake was more fun, but doom felt like it had a lot more work put into it.
I'm amazed at what a big jump it was from Wolfenstein to Doom. I mean, I'm sorry, but wolfenstein is garbage. Same environment, shitty feeling weapons, maze like levels, it's not good.
Doom holds up well though.

Only really bad thing I consider about the original Doom was I thought Thy Flesh Consumed was kind of a shitty episode and had a lot of crappy level design.
Then again, Wolf 3D had the same issues with the Nocturnal Missions also being quite shit (Mostly because they were made quickly without a lot of thought put in them). Spear of Destiny was far better designed, IMO.

I like the flavor in some of DN3D's aspects, such as the weapon variety. Even if it's mostly cosmetic, squishing another player, freezing him to death, setting a trap with laser bombs, etc is fun. It also had boobies.
