It he's not one, he's pretty goddamn borderline. But yeah, as we've both pointed out, between offering good explanations, giving him weaknesses and downsides and the like, and the moments that make him feel somewhat human, it's one of the rare examples where it's done well.

A character being powerful isn't being a Gary Stu, it's how they're written. You could have the weakest motherfucker ever be a Gary Stu if you write him like one.

Geralt is very flawed in the books. In the games he's a bit too perfect all around but since its a game and the players have to deal with him for 100h+ it's pretty standard.

Major reason for why he is a superior Witcher than others is that his mother was a Sorceress, which is SUUUUUPER fucking rare (and believed to be impossible by most people, even his mother) and due to taking on the witcher mutagens in the trial of grasses better than normal, he was subjected to even more mutagens (which made him Albino, more resilient to witcher potions and makes his senses more powerful).

He also is just smarter, like it's a genetic trait from his mum. ALSO his dad, we are lead to believe, was a badass warrior, so that might explain him having better fighting instincts than most witchers, or though the Kaer Morhen combat training is super fucking intense and supposedly makes the Kaer Morhen witchers better fighters than most other witchers. Even Ciri without the Mutagens and only couple years training there was a better swordsman than most (obviously Bonhart was a far better swordsman than her and most witchers, even defeating a Kaer Morhen witcher, but he may have lost to Geralt if they ever fought)
