each class (slime, beast, bird, dragon, etc) has 2-3 AT MOST monsters that are the only thing to breed for

If I recall correctly the zombie class in dragon quest monsters 2 had 1 single good monster and that was it.

Any monster can be good in the DQM games since you can have any abilities on any monster via breeding. You can have a Slime with maxed stats and have Quad hits, Fullheal, Explodet, TwinHits, etc,

Why? Was it the same for the JP versions? I remember reading about a rumor that all the puns and shit was because of the translator for DQ8 inserted them into the game and SE liked the idea so much they became the norm.
