It's basically a remake of Sims 2. I don't get why people hate it so much. Everyone agrees Sims 2 is the best one.

It's a fair divide between 2 and 3. There are a lot of people who appreciate the open town and neighborhood aging with your focussed family.

The problem is the game was made for the lowest spec computers basically possible.

Sims 3 was derided for how poorly it ran, in truth, Sims 3 doesn't actually run that poorly once you have NRAAS and shit on it, but the game was artificially limited by being built for computers that were ancient by the time Sims 3 even released. Still in 2017 you go on Sims forums and there are people like "Why does Sims 3 run shit on my Intel Celeron with 1.5 gigs of ram". I built this computer in 2012, it was a mid tier computer even then and I can run the Sims 3 fine except for fuckoff huge worlds like Bridgeport.
Still, pretty much 90% of the problems with the Sims 3, comes from it's artificial limitations being built for fucking ANCIENT computers. Standard the Sims 3 only uses 2 gigs of ram. You can push that to 4gigs because it's a 32bit game. The Sims 3, supported until 2013-2014, never came out with a 64bit executable. If it did, pretty much most of the load problems and shit would disappear instantly.

Sims 4 was made to run on the same specs as Sims 3. So Sims 4, a game, made in 2014 was designed to run on computers from like 2005. This is why the Sims 4 has been so fucking stripped back. Massive artificial limitations because retards trying to play the Sims on computers that peoples phones are more powerful than, whinge about the Sims 3 performance till this very day.

4 used a new engine with faster load time but its no longer open world and EA once again fucked up the launch ofc this triggered a lot of people. The game is now decent content wise and is a good point to get back into the series

they made it revolve around those stupid glorified moodlets and now every career reward/crafting item/collectible only gives a shitty mood bonus that is useless anyway since you have a billion other ways to get the same bonus cheaper and faster.

Hell Pretty much every Console sims Game is a spinoff
like the Sims 2 for PSP and DS were pretty much their own separate games that were sims 2 in name only and had nothing to do with sims 2
and the console sims 2 is probably the one of the best sims games in existence because of that cool little direct control feature where you could directly move your sim instead of telling them to go somewhere

It regressed in features compared to 3. They cut out a ton of shit and made it playable on toaster laptops cause the main people that play The Sims anymore are middle aged teens or single moms.

They didn't want it to end, the in-game store was their gold mine and they'd be happy releasing new content for it until the end of time. One of the things that always surprised me is how fucking terrible the UI in Sims 4 is.

CAS improved with the grab and drag feature, then went ahead and hid everything behind buttons.

Worst is the UI in build mode, in Sims 3, everything is at the bottom of the screen, easy as fuck to use, but in Sims 4, they literally put everything on opposite sides of the screen Bottom corner you have ability to choose what you want to decorate, but now camera controls, up floor/down floor, wall menu etc is in the top right corner.
Then place objects, no longer just hold click and drag to spin it, you have to now click the right mouse button. Then you have the fucking object screen which shows like 8 objects at once with fuckoff huge icons, and now instead of browse by function having literally every item type viewable at once, you now have to click through literal fucking drop down menus and sub menus to get to the object type you want.

By going ultra minimal UI, they basically made everything a tedious as fuck chore to use.

Just about everything that made 3 good. The open world was a big deal, now you have a loading screen every two meters. CAS is gone, so if you dont find something in a predefined pattern / color you like, you can go fuck yourself.

Its not just about the technical limitations though, they changed stuff that is more subjective. Like the look .... the clay hair and cartoony look of everything is understandable, considering its main audience, but I prefer 3.

But yeah, it runs much better. There just isnt much of a reason to play it.
