Verfire and verstone generate their respective Mana. In endgame, you have to balance the meter or else you gain the opposite color slower. If you had 69 black mana, it would make sense to cast verfire and then verthunder than verfire and jolt II because jolt II is same potency but gives less black mana

Yup. It's the best mmo on the market. WoW is hot garbage in comparison.

Just wish my class of choice was in a better place. Summoner right now is suffering. Played absolutely perfectly only rewards with middling dps. Maybe they'll majorly revamp the class and remove the DoT aspect and make it a full pet class. Right now it's like 2 classes in 1 and they don't work well together.

Okay, so I've been playing through Heavensward as AST and the HW dungeons have been doing insane damage to everyone and I can just barely seem to keep up at times.
Specifically, the Vault, or the last boss in the Vault. I do fine for the first half of the fight, but after the Holy Flame hits, I have a hard time keeping up.
I've run this dungeon three times now, and I've wiped at least once each time.

Any AST tips would be nice. Still not entirely sure when to use something like Collective Unconscious or how long I should keep it up. Also I rarely use Synastry, so maybe using that more on the tank when I need to heal others would help, but I dunno.
Wiping this many times to this specific boss has kind of shattered my confidence in playing AST.

The Vault is the rectum ravage for newbie healers, so don't feel too bad. There's a metric fuckton of avoidable damage mechanics, which no one ever avoids, but that's in addition to a good amount of unavoidable AOE damage.

Run diurnal sect, keep regen on everyone, and yeah use your cooldowns more effectively, lightspeed in particular can keep everyone alive through some big AOE heals. .

I was playing non stop for the past 4-5 months, on and off since launch, but recently I've been kind of burnt out. I don't really feel like doing any of the current content anymore, I haven't cleared all of Savage, but at the same time I just don't really feel like doing it. Feels kinda bad cause it was one of the only games I could consistently play.

If you're having trouble healing as AST then you'll have trouble with any healer.

Best advice I can give is to fish for a expanded bole whenever you can. Definitely use Nocturnal Sect because it's way better for that fight. Use synastry on cooldown, it doesn't really matter who you slap it on just use it for the (20%? I think) healing buff. Collective unconscious is a bit of a meme, but use it during the move that the boss uses after you destroy all the orbs for some mitigation and regen. If you're having MP problems then make sure you're using Lucid and keep an ewer in your spread for emergencies. Light speed is a really good "oh shit" button, make sure you're using that.

The main thing about the vault is altar pyre. That move is a bitch, and that boss specifically is very hard on healers. Also keep on mind that the difficult will vary wildly depending on the ilvl of the people in your party. Push through man.

For starters keep in mind that a lot of the stuff you encounter is muscle memory mechanics, you will get used to the vault boss in time and it will seem like he's dealing damage in slow motion. Try to use a certain event (before aoe damage happens) at the fight as a signal where you know AOE damage is coming so you can prepare.

In any case on to tips.

First I'd like to say I fucking hate your main class for completely stealing the identity of SCH and WHM and overall being designed like shit.

With that out of the way. Diurnal sect for pulls and Nocturnal Sect for bosses, but if its a hard boss and you feel like you can't keep up I recommend diurnal since its the easier of the two sects.

Since you're still pre-60 Lightspeed is your "snap heal" CD. When you have a time where aoe damage will come consecutively, this is the CD you need to use. Later on you will get earthly star which is a placeable aoe that you activate at anytime anywhere between the time you placed it and 20s later. You basically use this to heal through aoe damage once you get it falling back to lightspeed as an emergency.

I recommend you get into the habit of casting benefic 1 or 2 into aspected benefic whenever you are healing the tank and their regen is about to fall off.

Essential Dignity is your single target snap heal, try to use it when the tank is at 25% health or less to make the most out of it.

Heres a big tip most seem to gloss over, the effect of synastry activates even when healing the synastry'd target. So if you put it on the tank and heal them for 1000, the tank gets an extra heal of 400. This makes AST into the best single target bomb healer in the game. Don't forget you have larguesse, its a good idea to combine it with this when you need bomb heals.

Try to DPS whenever you can, but don't prioritize it. However, I must stress that its important for a healer to develop the dps healer mindset as it is actually very relevant in endgame.

Collective Unconcious is a useful cooldown to use to apply regens for the most part. You can use it to mitigate certain attacks as well, I recommend using it whenever you see a stack mechanic about to happen, or in transition phases where the entire party gets a big hit, but never keep it up for its max duration, that is a pointless endeavor.

Monk has high consistent aoe damage, and some of the biggest whenever you want burst with Perfect Balance. Summoner will burst higher but on their retarded rotation so they're generally sacrificing damage somewhere in advance of the group pull to burst as hard as they can.

Still though, good Summoner and a coordinated tank will fucking melt through full-pulls, but that shit is awkward to line up.

Summoner is very high skill cap. Unfortunately it's also the most punishing class in the game. When another dps dies they maybe lose 10-30 seconds max of build up, Summoner loses 2:30 on average. They also have so many ways to fuck up and lose even more time effectively killing their rotation for 60 or so seconds. It's incredibly difficult to pull off especially on fights where there's lots of things going on, not to mention on top of everything you're also babysitting your idiot pet who sits in AoE's and dies forcing you to swiftcast them back out. Bahamut requires you to stand perfectly still or he stops casting. Enjoy having your "AWESOME" moment feel like shit because the asshole won't continue casting. Also everyone hates you because he blocks everyone's view of the fight.

All this, and you don't even get to do high tier dps. Mid tier at best.

It is a polished themepark MMO that while it has its annoying low points (most of which are unfortunately stacked towards the front) has a overall nice story that eventually feels like a good classic Final Fantasy.

Playing on PS4 is totally fine, though if you wanted to get involved at high level it'd be kind of important to have a keyboard and a phone to do out of game communication. The game's got good pad controls and it's not really a negative to play with one.

It has a free trial, give it a go. It's not for everyone, keep in mind it's pretty much constantly uphill in terms of fun/complexity, but the first part is gonna be boring as fuck.

Well, probably Samurai but that's locked behind level 50. Until then your best bet is another mdps unless you want to insta queue your way to 50 in that case pick a tank. Remember you can switch your class at any time and at 50 you just jump right into SAM and RDM. If you want dps I'd suggest another Melee. Not Dragoon since that class is boring as all get out until past 50. Maybe just do Puglist/Monk. It's fast paced and has lots of positionals which will prepare you for SAM.

They a archer type dps job, with a lot of little buffs and procs to juggle and micromanage constantly.

They do 'buff' people with certain cooldowns as a token nod to the traditional bard archetype, but it's all dps related stuff and for all intents and purposes they're like NIN where they're primarily a dps job that just happens to have above average utility.

MCH uses the 123 combo system like melee but it's RNG. You have a 50% of activating the second combo skill when you use the first, and then 50% of activating the third one. On top of that the majority of you damage depends on a 1 minute cooldown which means that outside of that 10 second window you hit like a wet noodle
The new heat mechanic is even worse because it's completely useless for 10 levels until you get skills that actually interact with it and even then it barely does anything and is in fact counterintuitive

I've been leveling a monk since I haven't fucked about with a DPS anything in MMOs in a long while, I actually like the combat style but oh boy did it make me remember why I didn't like playing DPS in general. If you're a healer and some fuckhead eats an AOE to the face you can correct for that/make a note to let the dumbass die the next time it happens. If you're a tank and the healer has a tendency to get too focused on his netflix episodes when he should be healing you can pull less mobs. But if you're a DPS and someone feels like letting out their inner retard then you just buckle up for the ride 'cause there isn't shit you can do. This wouldn't even be that bad if I didn't have to wait near 20 minutes to get into a low level 4-man.
