I've noticed local stores getting shittier though. I go to digital press every now and then to see if they have any hidden old gems tucked away and their prices have gotten pretty bad and the selection is a lot worse than it used to be. Last decent thing I remember getting there was a sealed copy of FFIX on sale for 10 bucks.

At this point they won't. There's too large of a back library and related merchandise, and too much of a demand for the same, to put the indie stores out of business as long as they're not retarded.

What usually puts stores like this out of business is the owner starts the store because he loves the product, and then is too much of an autistic sperg to focus on business rather than using his store as a proxy personal collection.

Where I live, I literally get next day shipping from Amazon even if I pick free. As much as I'd like to buy local, there's usually no reason at all to even try.

I think local game stores will outlive Gamestop.
They appeal to the wide nostalgia market by having games for almost any system.
It's pretty ridiculous that Gamestop is so desperate for money that they'll take up half of their shelf space with a bunch of plastic bullshit nobody actually wants and iShit that people will just buy elsewhere, but they won't even consider taking in used games that are more than one gen old and putting them where they're wasting that space.
