Anybody else have a strange appeal to very short experiences that are replayable over and over again, with each new go letting you try new options/paths?
I've always liked the idea of short-term open/close experiences that I can just start each new session, gaining skill and knowledge along the way that I can use in the next playthrough.
Anyone got any fun games that are like this?
I've got a few that somewhat fit this category.
>the stanley parable
>mobas
>infinifactory (there aren't any new playthroughs but you can always go back to previous solutions and try them over and over again)
>the megaman series
>almost any game with a level editor
>almost every roguelike ever

I own deus ex but haven't touched it due to weird performance issues on my PC. I'll definitely give it a full shot though

With undertale you get like3 real paths and no incentive to play it again unless you want to be "the super good guy11!!" or "the super evil guy!1111!!". There aren't really any branching paths, secret items, or alternate paths. It was still a pretty good game though,
if not a bit boring
Hotline miami?

Sengoku Rance.
I've been meaning to do a 5 star run for ages, but I want to get the Takeda house bonus first, and it's annoying to get.

Man I remember playing these years ago and not understanding shit because they throw you out there without explaining absolutely nothing. Good times
Should replay it sometime
>>385869085Shocked, frozen solid, OP found himself unable to move for the longest time. But as he came to his wits and regained his senses, he got up from his desk and stepped out of his room.

Maybe they were there, on a plate?

The best games are under ten hours long. I'd rather play Mega Man X a hundred times than play Persona 5 twice, and Persona 5 is the easiest GOTY I've ever given a gameuntil Sonic Mania comes out.
I keep replaying Crimsonland
I started playing it at least 10 years ago, then there were the new versions, new tactics, new stuff.
It's pretty repetitive after you figure out the best way to play a given version, though.

I forgot what board I was on and thought this was about thoughts and was about to agree.

NieR is kinda short and you have to play it at least three times to see all the endings.
I might be misunderstanding your question, but platformers are my go-to for quick replayable experiences.
One time I replayed UYA three times in a row without realizing. It's one of those games that if you skip the cutscenes, you can beat it in an afternoon. And when you beat the final boss it plops you right back to the first planet in the game.

Probably not the same way, but I love replaying individual missions over and over in Dishonored just to find different ways to do shit.

Man I understand liking platformers, UYA is one of my favorite games of all time and I'm pissed I lost my disc. But skipping the cutscenes in an original R&C game is heresy.

Even if you're on your third playthrough?
DMC1 fits the mold quite well, as it can be finished in an afternoon and stocking up on normal/hard will save your ass on Dante Must Die if need be

I'm more a "Play it every year or two" kinda guy with most of my favorite games. Like pic related.
