OST is dogshit with maybe one good guitar/keyboard riff hidden somewhere in the sludge of mediocrity.

Shallow as fuck combat system.
Menu based weapon switching that further kills any potential depth lest you really love pausing the action a lot.
Upgrading/stats garbage that has no place for a game like this.
QTEs and cutscenes mid boss fights that break flow, hard.

Boring as fuck from start to finish. Makes Madworld/Max Anarchy look interesting in comparison.
Better off playing Shinobi or Ninja Gaiden 2 for ninja slicing action.
Better off playing Vanquish or Binary Dpmain for destroying humanoid robots with some focus on spectacle.

The VR mission where you can only use items. In fact items in general are shit.

The biggest flaw in MGR was actually a result of technical limitations: the platforms they were using didn't have enough memory to accommodate both the slicing system and all 4 sub-weapon movesets. When you go to the menu to swap sub-weapons it's actually unloading the assets for the sub-weapon you unequipped.

The game was great but it would've been far better with the ability to quick-swap sub weapons.

Why wouldn't you be attacking while waiting for the cue to parry

That's how the game is built, so that weak strikes can cancel into dodge or parry and heavy strikes require commitment.

Incredible faggotry instead of block/parry system. You can just attack and parry with only button, and it sucks hard. First time players have to learn to parry while fighting Monsoon, because they don't really have to use that ability in previous parts of the game. More over using parry is not obvious as there are no hints or something. It also fails if Raiden is surrounded by simultaneously attacking foes.
