It's wasn't streamlined it was turn into total shit. At least Todd admitted it was a mistake so Fallout 5 and the next Elder scrolls won't use it.
>>
Voice acting for the MC in any game will lessen the options you can choose from, especially now that we come to expect the lips to sync up, requiring mocap or animation that matches, every previous Fallout game didn't have a voice for the main character. More options over voice acting any day. Also different writers, shit writers
>>
>>385793394
It just works!
>>
I wouldn't be surprised if Fallout 4's development had the same problems of Mass Effect Andromeda, considering how the game was only really being made for two years and everything from the character models to the pants-on-head retarded plot reflects that.
>>
>>385793394
To become less like a classic web page full of hyperlinks and feel more like an actual conversation.

The real cancer that is harming dialogue in modern RPGs is voice acting for every line.

You can't expect people to read all that shit.

What happened to this franchise

Do they need to read? They don't play very much of these games either way.
Did you know that only 81.3% of all Fallout 4 players on Steam actually got the achievement for exiting the starting vault?
And only 25.5% of players actually completed the Nuclear Option (end-game main quest)?
37.1% have completed 10 side quests.
I'm not sure if these stats are better or worse for consoles, someone else can feel free to check.
>>
>>385794581
Alot of normies play fallout 4/skyrim, its literally built for them

>only 25.5% of players actually completed the Nuclear Option (end-game main quest)?
not surprised, the game is shit

You're contradicting yourself here, the game is tailored for normalfags but they aren't playing it to the end?

>>385794581
I hate fallout 4, but it's hard to really believe only 81.3% left the starting vault, especially knowing that having even a single mod, including mods for bug fixes, disables all achievements.

I didn't play very much of this game, but it's not definitely not because there was too much reading.
>>

Who the fuck says Elder Scrolls 4 instead of Oblivion? Also that game came out more than 10 years ago.
>>
>>385794263
hello nigger.
>>
>>385794769
normies never complete games, and the majority of them are on console

on PC people were probably hyped from new vegas then found out it was shit. Got a few people I know who bought it and only have like 10-20 hours played.
>>
>>385794832
>>385794904
Well, it's the only statistics I have quick access to, I'm sure comparing it to the console ones should provide some insight.

>>385794850
That's what I'm saying, if there isn't much reading, and they aren't playing very much of it, does it really matter if we remove a lot of voice acting?
>>
>>385794263
It might look fancy but it's actually incredibly simple and pointless for the most part.

Like it's not there for lore or story or writing. It's there for the sole reason of finding specific locations in towns, like a shop or a person from a quest. The actual quest dialogs are even simpler than Fallout 4 since it's just "I'll do the quest" and "Nah not now" pretty much.
>>
>>385794852
well thats not exactly how the conversation went

he seemed kinda knowledgeable about vidya and his main system is a 360
>>
>>385794832
Don't be that surprised. New Vegas and Skyrim both have completion rates in the 80s for their starting quest. And in NV at least mods didn't disable achievements.
>>
>>385795358
Fair enough but my point is like a lot of stuff in Daggerfall it doesn't really serve much of a purpose. As much as I love the game it is pretty terribly thought out. They have all these cool mechanics that doesn't really come into play so instead you just spend 99% of your time trying to find the one hidden door that will get you to the next part of the pre-generated same looing dungeon to find the randomly spawned enemy that might or might not be stuck in a wall somewhere.
>>
>>385795113
> Bethesda games have always been built where the focus is just wandering around
That's why I included the side-quest achievement statistic as well.
(Although it's important to note you can't do any wandering if you don't leave the fucking vault!)

>>

I don't think you like RPGs anon
>>
>>385793394
Because Bethesda wanted to try the dialog wheel and a voiced protagonist.
They've said this isn't something they want to try again.

But despite this, you'll still get replies from obsidro es and vtards screaming about how Bethesda is just "lazy" and "greedy", and how they just make what's popular for more money.

These are thevsame retards who'll tell you that Bethesda had any involvement with TESO beyond just owning the series.
>>
>>385794494
They wanted to try new things and have no sense of when to stop

>Did you know that only 81.3% of all Fallout 4 players on Steam actually got the achievement for exiting the starting vault?

Those are extremely normal rates. Usually for the first progress based achievement you get anywhere from 70-90% and for completing the story it's around 20-40%.

fallout 4 dialog may be streamlined in execution, but every dialog option branches into a unique and rich conversation full of lush, expository details that really immerse you in the game world.
>>
>>385793394
They tried to get the biodrone audience.
Glad they're not going to do it again, even todd said it was a mistake.
>>
>>385794581
Doesn't that have alot to do with modding though? I thought once you have mods installed on your game and you're playing through the script extender the achievements are disabled.
>>
>>385801184
Too bad the conversations are either all about Shaun or the NPC's interests rather than your own. Often times you have to be asked to ask a question rather than just do it of your own free will. It's really quite insulting to the player.
>>
>>385793394
You know people wouldn't say different things if you asked them about - say - the Mage's guild.

It was such a shit system, and whilst the new dialogue system isn't perfect it's certainly more responsive and interesting than the old one.

Furthermore, the old system had a focus on transmitting information, whilst the new system has a focus on transmitting emotions and personality.
Lore can be read in books, but dialogue is not for transmitting information, unless it's specified to transmit information.
>>
>>385802181
That's because Bethesda is a shit studio who was fortunate enough to have a few talented individuals pave the groundworks of their game.
