Between The Division, Destiny and its sequel, and Anthem next year, there is a small but growing trend for these online looter shooters. Destiny is a console MMO in all but name, the west's answer to the likes of Final Fantasy XIV. They're not quite in the same niche as the likes of Borderlands, since that's still just a single-player game with a co-op option; these other three games are explicitly designed for multiplayer from the ground up. It's debatable whether to include Warframe in that group, since it does things slightly differently.
Still, considering this small niche genre is filled with such giant games, where do you see it in its current state? Is it legitimate to call them console MMOs, if not MMOs/MOs in general? What growth and innovations would you expect or hope for in the genre?
Also, RIP

do you not know what mmo stands for

>this is a sign of things to come
but seriously OP, I don't see them going/advancing all that well..
too often they simply lack content or reason to participate, what content they do have quickly dries up.
it's like water in a desert in that sense.
I've heard Anthem described at one point as "what Destiny 2 was supposed to be." Destiny 2 was expected to be an evolution of the formula, but it revealed itself to be more of the same, even using the same engine and shit. Destiny has no interest in evolving, so it needs other games to kick it in the pants.

Destiny is not an MMO you retard.

Are you going to say Phantasy Star Online wasn't an MMO?

>Meeting other players seamlessly and spontaneously

these two need to happen simultaneously for it to be an MMO
it does not happen in Destiny

Bioware hasn't explicitly compared Anthem to Destiny yet. That line is pushback from people who played the Destiny 2 beta.

>people who played Destiny 2
>but haven't played Anthem
that's even dumber to believe

Considering Destiny 2 doesn't let you fly like Iron Man and shit, it's somewhat understandable.

Is The Division any good nowadays?
Call them online RPG shooters ffs, that's what they are.

None. I expect them to try to copy warframe and failing to compete with their F2P model. The big publishers really shat the bed with warframe. Nobody expected it to lift off the ground let alone be successful.
Anthem is bioware so it's a no go from the start.
Density 2 is copy paste.
Warframe is space vindictus which means grind your youth away.
