Is DLC killing the gaming industry?

>Then DLC
>not Then Expansion pack
you fucked it up op
Console pleb ruined the whole expansion/mods thing in favor of DLC.
Idiots who bought into their many schemes are to blame

This. The "don't like it, don't buy it" approach works. Problem is that most people like it.

>now includes completely uncooked meat because there is no regulatory body enforcing standards of software quality

It has been over a decade and the only good DLC has just been what we used to call and expansion pack before the term got popular.

>Diablo 2 Expansion
>adds new act that's bigger than any vanilla acts and two new characters
>Diablo 3 "dlc"
>adds new act that's way bigger and better than any vanilla act, one new character, new game mode, new craftsman
>reises level cap, reworks broken and shitty mechanics for better
Fucking dlcs ruining the games man
>>385788607
No, idiots who buy DLC like the left example are.
>not Then: Original complete game, Sequel
What the fuck am I doing here anymore

People who say this didn't play the old games at launch. Tons of bugs and error, poor optimization, way smaller scale, and lacking a lot of QoL and tech we take for granted like AI having an actual line of sight.
And then came The Witcher 3. I know its expansions and not technically DLC but BAW is literally bigger than most AAA games and it was 18 bucks. On top of that they DID give out run of the mill DLC, 16 of them to be exact, for FREEEEEEEEE
Is this really even a problem anymore? All i see nowadays is just microtransactions and shitty little mission addons.

exception that proves the rule, quit being obtuse.
