My dad took lots of pictures and video which probably helped reinforce my memories although I definitely have memories independent of anything he recorded and even of what seems like mundane things. I find my childhood memories are often more vivid and complete than memories of recent years where it's just eat, sleep, work, vidya for a lot of it.
Come to think of it. I had limited access to electronics as a kid. That might have something to do with it too.

In '97 I owned an N64 I never played (though on weekends I would have marathon sessions with my two roommates playing Goldeneye and San Fran Rush). I had a PS, on which I just played Tony Hawk pretty much. I actually mostly stuck with my SNES and Mega Drive. I was tempted later to buy an Xbox, but I went through a long, broke, non Vidya period. Watched a friend in like 2002 or 2003 playing Max Payne on his P.C. and got into P.C. exclusively.

First console I bought since my chipped PS was an Xbone last year. For the wife.
