The most "forced" romantic option in the game. She starts out as a tsundere and you think "oh my fucking god no" but she chills out throughout the game and gets over the initial tit grab situation. Less of an interesting romantic option and more of a CP battery and girlbro as the game continues and you realize she isn't actually that annoying of a person. You might have to get used to the VA though.

>Hanging out with Elliot

Get ready to deal with Mr. Lack of Self Confidence here. Not only is he kind of fucking boring, but hanging out with Elliot always feels like you could have used your time in a better way. His music thing is sort of interesting but it's not enough.

>Hanging out with Laura

Awkward interactions that lead to cute moments. Laura doesn't know how to act girly, and you'll see how retarded this can get when you realize she has sword autism and knows nothing else. Despite her straightforward character that tends to have no major personality flaws, she's one of the most likable people anyways. She's pretty much another bro throughout most of the game. Also her dad is rad as fuck.

>Hanging out with Machias

Maybe you shouldn't even bother. He likes chess and coffee, so you already know he's a boring person. Hates nobles but goes completely fucking overboard with it and the rare times where he gets a cool moment always gets overshadowed when he has to start screaming about what a bunch of cocksuckers rich people are.

>Hanging out with Jusis

The most interesting party member in the cast. A noble who's got a lot of shit to deal with and him and Rean learn to have a bromance with each other the more they interact. Jusis is one of the few characters who actually gets some reasonable character development and it leads to far more interesting moments considering how important his role becomes later.

You don't learn much about her until the second game, but if she charms you then you'll be satisfied with sticking with her until the second game gets released on Steam where you'll learn way more about her.

Sleepy loli archetype with a lot of extra sass and sarcastic behavior tossed in. She seemed lame and extremely generic at first, but the more dialogue she gets the better of a character she becomes. She becomes a lot of fun later in the story. Was an ex-jeager and you'll learn all about her previous life style by hanging out with her. Becomes the group's first little sister if you don't feel like giving her the Cold Steel.

MUH WIND. This guy gets criticized a lot because he's just boring and doesn't really have any flaws. He mentions the wind a lot and is Rean's bro. It's like Laura except not a cute girl. That's pretty much it. Every encounter with this guy is just learning about how he knows nothing about the empire but he's also this extremely chill dude who seems way wiser than he should be.

I know that, but I feel that there are better ways to build worlds than just having your teenage cast constantly talk about the countries problems in an unrealistic way. I think it would have been a little better if they :

a.) had books that explained the lore of the world, and had the newspaper cover the current events (which they did both, but I wish there was a little more to mitigate the exposition)

b.) made the radio an optional feature every night before you went to bed so that you could listen to the going-ons in Erebonia (basically the paper, but with a voice)

These would also flesh out the world imo and add a spice that would make it seem more alive than what it is. I'm not knocking the game or anything, I really did enjoy it, but these are just some things I would have done differently.

Every character has a few unique skills, Everything else is fully customizable. You could make every party member the healer if you wanted, or make the tank a magic user primarily.

Huge part of the game is chatting up NPCs and getting side stories. Theres a more elaborate one involving a run away rich girl that comes up every chapter, and ends late into the 2nd game. You could miss it almost entirely if you didnt run around talking to everyone.

1 or 2 tricky bosses. If you spend any amount of time min maxxing your party you'll bowl over almost everything

The entirety of the Trails series (Trails in the Sky and Crossbell arc) thrives on this. There's tons of shit you can very easily miss since NPCs and events change after basically every single story beat and sometimes not even between what you would consider a complete beat.

I'm going to get Cold Steel for the same reason I got TiTS.

The story isn't amazing, the soundtrack only has a few good songs, the characters aren't revolutionary and the battle system isn't GOAT.

What Legend of Heroes games tend to do right is that they're so fucking relaxing to play. There's something almost primal in the way these games ask you to kick back and take part in what feels like a very casual adventure.

That feeling on your PC at 1080p+ is more than reason enough to put some money into Cold Steel.

I wish the characters in Cold Steel got more mandatory rather than optional focus and development and that they just would have made fucking Alisa THE romance option for Rean instead of giving players the option to get together with whoever when we know who the fuck the canon love interest is. I enjoyed TiTS because it always went out of its way to not be cheap, sometimes to a ridiculous degree. It's a quality very few weeb media have, these are more prone to throw in something for the hell of it (that's not always a bad thing), and yet also prone to cheap moves that just leave bad taste in your mouth when overused.
