the best lore WoW had was when they introduced new concepts and didnt try to meddle with warcraft 1/2/3 story much a.k.a vanilla.Everything was more "grounded in reality"(as far as high-fantasy mmo goes)and didnt have some retarded bullshit like space ships and traveling, time traveling and parallel universes.Exploring the brand new lore around Ragnaros/Dragons like Onyxia and Nefarian/the Qiraji/Zul'Gurub and all the dungeons was so good.Even the warcraft 3 related lore with the scourge/naxx/etc was done well in Vanilla.

Argus exists so they can skip out on trying to make an adequate Sargeras bossfight. You beat Argus, then use the rest of its power (and Illidan) to seal Sargeras away in Gay Titan Jail

They could have ended WoW like this.

We fight the Burning Legion into Argus. Which was have some success with until Sargaras comes himself to save the day by pushing our forces back to Azeroth, killing almost all notable lore characters in the process.

Maybe new expansion? Cata like changes to the world where the Burning Legion is making all kinds of progress fucking our shit up. Fun times, dungeons, raids, all seeming like we're making headway until we fail to prevent the Burning Legion from summoning Sargaras himself to Azeroth. We fight a valiant fight, we even manage to make Sargaras break a sweat fighting us, but ultimately he's just too much for us to beat back and we lose. We actually lose for fucking once.

Final cinematic plays with Sargaras attempting to kill the titan egg Azeroth, but it hatches at the last moment. In it's birth moments the titan Azeroth is damaged to the point where it won't survive, but has a trick up it's sleeve. Azeroth reverses time and undoes everything that happened leading up to this moment. Hoping for a new timeline to come about and that it may survive it's second hatching.

Timeline is reversed to pre-vanilla. Warcraft 4 is developed with new fucking lore. Maybe even a Warcraft 5. THEN MAYBE a WoW 2.
