I played with the D-Pad, I found the games work better that way and I like the D-Pad more anyways. I still switched to analog when it felt necessary, though.

Play with whatever feels good to you. D-Pad personally hurts my hands after awhile but I can see it being good for the linear sidescrolling parts.

Analog for stages like the one where you run from a boulder/bear/triceratops, and the riding stages.
