The closest you'll get is RTS/Strategy games where you have an evil campaign.

Most of the time it's legit evil (SCBW, WC3, HoMM3. etc.)

But sometimes they do the faggot way of "THIS SPECIFIC CHARACTER YOU CONTROL IS NOT EVIL" (SC2, Universe at war empire assault, HoMM5 inferno campaign)

I think it can be done well enough as long as you put effort in the writing. Having a villain PC that goes out raping and murdering might sound fun for some but will be a turn off for a lot of people.

Mixing comedy can also help, with the way overlord 1 handled it.

Infamous you could be pretty evil. Force unleashed as well.

I hate this so much. Why do the devs have to pussyfoot around the playable villain character so much?
All I want is a game where you play as a Dr Doom or Ancient Evil type character and take on a group of spunky, teenage heroes who wear way too many belts and wield ridiculously oversized weapons.

Hell, even The Frozen Throne had you playing as the villains at one point, and both that and WarCraft 1 have the villains winning. Fucking underage.

AVP, the first one is more fun for this. If you taunt humans from the air ducts etc where they can't see you they start panicking. Eventually they start spraying bullets in the general direction of your sounds. I loved terrorizing a room that included civilians and getting marines to gun them down in a panic. I liked how synthetics remained unaffected by your sounds. The alien was so fast and agile too, you could easily eliminate all threats in a room and slowly approach a non combatant and get them to run to a corner and start crying. Once you're close you hiss at them and they scream and cower before you. The wet crunching sound as you slam your secondary jaw into their brain was really satisfying. I wish that any of the following AVP games had been as fun as the first, but they just too clunky. I'd loved to see graphics update for the original.

There's a reason basically every GTA protagonist is a guy trying to escape his life of crime and keeps getting dragged back in by his friends (San Andreas) or by the system (every GTA)
