Holy shit, there was nothing more immersion breaking for me than hearing the words "vocalcord parasite" over and over again in those tapes. Is it so hard to just say that they were using a primitive but powerful series of nanomachines that absolutely wrecks it's host in the end? BB killed hack n slash/"souls style" combat altogether for me. I used to absolutely love DS1 and did at least 5 or 6 playthroughs. Tried going back after BB, and it just felt clunky and awkward, unwieldy, like I was playing lords of the fallen.

Kojima had become too much of an issue for Konami's higher ups. One story involved him spending a million dollars on a series of tracks only to throw them away in the end. The other side was that this single developer and his series outshined the entire company as a whole. This obviously was a major issue when it comes to the Japanese and their honor system. The final straw was in fact P.T., Kojima knew he was going to get canned so he played one last gambit, through a seperate team he created the game and added the Silent Hills teaser in the end without Konami's approval. One of the reasons why the game was so obtuse was so that it could slip through Konami's play testers, he knew that gamers would find it quickly. The idea is that either Konami would have to keep him because of the fan outcry for this "new" game that hasn't been approved or get fired but Konami would get the ire of the entire gaming public. Despite his flaws, which are many, he is in fact a master ruseman.

MGS1 bosses are literally bullet sponges. Just learn the attack patterns and wear them out. So is MGS2 but with added non-lethal bullet sponge option added. MGS3 follows the same pattern but with whacky gimmicks added, which for some part are cool/ok, like using the fake death pill to fool Fear. Sure you don't have le goofy comic villains as bosses in V but at least it gives you a bigger variety of how to combat those bosses or in most cases you can avoid them all together.

The AI in fear was basically a happy accident as they've commented on and was not as impressive as people make it out to be. And FEAR is not a stealth game. If you were playing MGS3 with realistic AI that had realistic ranges on their vision and hearing it would be nearly impossible.
