Because classes like the outlander class are built around scavenging and material gathering and removing the need to remake weapons nerfs the class and also indirectly nerfs traps and shit. Why run around gathering when you can just shoot shite?

Your best bet is to approach this game like an RTS, you gather your shit, build your base and then fight off the enemy attacks.

People don't seem to understand that the husks will always take the FASTEST (not shortest) route to their objective which is why it's easy to reroute them with easily breakable walls, simply by making a faster route available elsewhere that you fill with traps.

You do indeed see a lot of idiots make these elaborate mazes only to have the husks go entirely around it, or just break straight through. Or people build a trap corridor too close to the spawn without a sniper tower nearby and the bomb husks just blow it to shit. So avoidable as well since just upgrading even wood walls once allows them to survive an explosion (assuming you've put skills into building health, at least)

One major complaint I have so far is how unbalanced stats are, fortitude is absolute garbage as a stat since all it does is increase your health (which is garbage since it doesn't regenerate over 30% en healing pads are absolute and not relative healing) while 100 offense gives you 100% more damage, 100 fortitude gives you... 100% more health, which means now you die in 4 more hits than before yay!....

Salty as fuck about it because I have a mythic lead survivor and it's a fucking doctor, so now I have 400 fortitude compared to 200~ offense/resistance/tech and it's garbage.

How exactly would there be any less need for scavenging when weapon upgrades would still require the resources, and so would traps and other constructs?

I fail to see how this would "fix" your problem then. It'd also make finding weapons which is what I was referring to with the outlander even less effective, right now it's a great addition to having to craft your own weapons (you don't need to do it as much, because you find decent/better weapons, which is much of the point of the class) if weapon crafting became gutted than so too would this advantage of the outlander class, which is arguably underpowered as fuck already. (specials cost charges which you can only find around the map and are usually less effective than mere stamina costing specials other classes have)

It does, but it's a major problem right now due to the first zone teaching people it's fine not to build traps and people not adapting and understanding it's mandatory in later zones, having guns be an even bigger crutch (why farm for trap mats when I can just shoot things???) would only make that worse.

I disagree, nothing wrong with having to remake your weapons every now and again, it's currently also the only penalty for death and the system works acceptably in that regard.

I'd rather they increase the limit on building mats you can carry around, or at least let you deposit that shit to your storm shield from the main menu so you don't have to leave and re-enter to build that shit.
