I did the same thing, but I just bought a PSVR and then returned it when I was done with RE7. Aim look is nice and the VR experience is fun, but the graphics are absolute shit compared to the normally incredible graphics the game has. Maybe would be better on a PC VR headset with a higher resolution.

I feel this demo and Ito both try too hard to be scary and fail. I guess you have to play it alone to really feel it.

Eh, I feel like the Beginning Hour demo and the first part of RE7 was playing off P.T. but after that it was basically just like an RE game except in first person. It was very heavy handed with it's inspirations (Saw, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, maybe FEAR, etc...) and basically turns into an action game. I loved it, but it's still an RE game which is more like jumps and classic horror rather than Silent Hill's psychological stuff.

There's two types of horror games:

1. The never-ending jumpscare game
2. The psychological horror game

This short trailer (demo) was able to create a continuous sense of dread with only two small lengths of hallway. I think there was...2 jumpscares the whole time? The rest was just you....terrified to turn that right corner....terrified to pass the bathroom....terrified to hear that fucking radio....

The game made the player create the fear, not the game itself creating it.

I thought it was pretty neat what it was able to accomplish with just a hallway and a bathroom, but at the end of the day, PT is still just a walk through a horror house like any other modern horror game. Better, but still of the same ilk. What really makes me mourn it's passing was the promise of a new Silent Hill, a Japanese Silent Hill at that. The lack of info on the game proper just makes it harder, since I can't even just handwave and say that it likely would've been shit.
