The only story you need is Kiwami, 1 and 6. Those are the games that are primarily about Kiryu, Nishiki, and Haruka.
The rest are all good games, but they're basically gaidens when it comes to the central narrative of those 3 characters.

All of his suits minus 0 are work for all occasions. You would just need to have the thing tailored and to fold your shirt collars and boom.

0's suit is a little different because of the design. The white with pinstripes is fine, but the double breasted buttons might be a problem. In game it's fantastic. In IRL it wouldn't be so good unless you were purposefully tryin' to stand out. Which in itself was ironic since he was trying to blend in.

Majima on the other hand, would be getting stares left and right. Even if you were "slim" and fit like him, IRL folks would just think you've got mental problems or were a gangster.

It's a really dumb excuse though. Most Muricans care way more about Samurai than they do Yakuza. Samurai themed games generally do well in the West. Friggin Nioh takes place in Japan during the 2nd half of the Sengoku war and has a story that revolves around real historical figures who are also in Kenzan.

Samurai are a lot easier to market than Jap gangsters are especially when you're not even playing as a gangster which makes Yakuza even harder to market since even the title of the game is extremely misleading.

I don't see how Ishin would be a hard sell, doesn't that take place during the Ruroni Kensin era? Dat animu was popular in the USA so I'd say a fair amount of people wouls be falmiliar with the historical characters in both Ishin & Kenzan. It's just typical Sega being fucking retarded as usual. The one side game they ported over was the one most likely to fail, Yakuza of the Dead. That game was destined for failure due to the way it plays. It plays like a PS2 shooter pre-RE4 era.

6's combat takes a while to get used to but I wouldn't call it bad. It just feels like a modern day version of Rockstar's The Warriors. Sega will sell that game by the assload if one of their marketers ever figures out how much in common that it has with The Warrior's gameplay.

What Y6 lacks for in flash, it more than ups for with a far less clunky battle system. It literally just feels like The Warriors which was a game that focused on brutal but generic looking combat over the flashy movie QTE-based combat that the Yakuza series is famed for.

Are we living in the same world? It feels like you're punching foam unless someone blocks and then it feels like you punched a wrecking ball flying at you. Kicking enemies makes it feel like they turn to jelly as they fly from you. It feels anything but weighty. It definitely feels fluid though, it's amazing to go from punching forward twice to kicking behind you into a finisher punch in front of you without it looking off or unnatural, I loved it. But enemies blocking at any point mid-combo which then causes you to recoil is the worst addition they've ever added to the series.

HEAT actions aren't required for amon so you're alright if you missed one. here are the list of missable heat actions

>all Secret sword heat actions
>heat action where you stab someone through a slide door during the assassination mission at the beginning
>bellows heat action that can only be done in the blacksmith sidequest
>tatami floor heat action since only a few sidequests and missions have you in a room with tatami floors

and almost all sidequests and bounties are missable so do them whenever they are available, follow the guides.good luck buddy

In terms of Amons I've beaten.
Kenzan > 1 > 2 > 4 > 3 > Dead Souls. 3 is just barely equal to Dead Souls' Amon but just barely. You can just Tiger Drop 3's Amon over and over without any worry at all whereas the only scary part about the Dead Souls Amon is his OHKO satellite attack on Dead Souls difficulty after you're run down something like 30 or 40 floors.

Good luck with getting Amon in that, Subterranea is a nightmare of boredom. If you miss any fish or anything you can change time in Kiryu's chapter so don't worry about that, but substories require either a guide for when they're available or Premium Adventure. Dead Souls difficulty also isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be at all provided you do your normal playthrough on that and don't just rush it.

None of them really have good gameplay. They're all insanely easy to the point where the combat is almost always a chore. It's fun finding out which one game mechanic the boss inexplicably falls for 100% of the time, but honestly the Dragon Counter or whatever the triangle move is usually ends up ruining even that.

Can't speak on the minigames though, I never do any of them unless they're part of a substory.

Saejima's alright, he's a bit of an asshole to everyone in his substories but in the main story he's just a guy who wants to deal with his past and move on. Tanimura was fun barring his final fight, I liked exploring the whole corrupt cop thing but it's a shame they couldn't go further with it.

At least they reference him in Dead Souls, Akiyama says it would be nice for him to be there and stuff.
