Is the wheel worth using? I've been trying it out and it seems alright but the kirkhammer seems a lot better than it, it does more damage, uses less stamina per attack, is only a little slower and deals the same (useless) damage types.

The wheel is cool and I like it, but I feel like

But it does. L1s are literally the bread and butter of the game, yet most people for some reason ignore them, even though they have higher damage modifiers than regular R1s and hitstun of an R2 despite usually being quicker.
A good portion of the weapon roaster does rely on very basic weapon combos, like kirk Dash R1 - L1 into hammer - R1 followup, Amyarm untricked to tricked is pretty much a tricked dash R1 but with significantly more damage, and with Bowblade its usually a good idea to bloodbullet midfight and L1 into a sword to rally all the health you lost.

I'm not sure if you understand what I meant about hit-stun, but the Kirk L1 to R1 follow-up combo is completely escapable, and I'm pretty sure they would even be able to tech out after the Dash R1.

I wish the Fist of Gratia was a mainhand weapon. The Stake Driver and Beast Claw are cool, but there is nothing in Bloodborne that satisfies my urge to bitch slap people the way that the fist weapons in Dark Souls do.

Honestly, in PvP I dont think hitstuns are necessary in any of the soulsgames, the games are not complex enough as a fighting sim. Usually it means just another R1 or in some exceptions like Mad King's Cruisifix you do the highest damage combo and thats it.
The diverse movesets of bloodborne serve as additional array of bait or dodgecatch options, not to combo someone down.

This is why Estoc from DeS is often considered the best weapon; it had legit rewards and combo routes that weren't mash R1 as well as having an incredible kit (block poke and pirouette) and having good space control and pressure without feeling spammy.

While you're right that dash R1 is amazing, the rest of its tricked moveset is great. A 220 degree swing followed by a quick jab is amazing for roll-catching. Then there's the L2 which can oneshot anyone with poise to boot

1. Moveset is perfect for pvp and it has twice the moveset everything else has for some weird reason
2. It's ridiculously fast with a wide as hell hitbox

I would say Chikage is better for pve though because of the damage.
