To be fair, most of the sacrifices were prisoners of war, at best you could argue it's giving people who otherwise would have been killed on the spot in battle a few weeks to live like a king before having their gut torn open, or at worst just comparable to rome's gladatorial shit.

Depends on how you define worth it. There's 3 gym;s worth of content, but Sage has longer routes so it's actually like 6-10 hours of content depending on how long you take for stuff.

The designs are actually pretty on point for nailing the pokemon visual design, the overworld tiles/sprites are gorgous for most areas (pic related, though it's not in the public demo, as it's the town after the current demo ends), the music and in battle sprites ranges from servicable to fantastic, aside from a few WIP sprites and most of the attack animations being placeholders. As far as writing/story, it's not trying to be anything the official games aren't, so it very closely sticks to that style of writing and dialog. Aside form a few spots, it's all well done, though it's not trying to be very complex either.

It mostly comes down to if you think putting time into something that's unfinished that your save won't carry over for is worth the time.

Also it's worth noting that minus minor bugfixes for the current one, there won't be more demos till the final game, which could take years to come out, since Sage started in late 2012 and only know came out with the 3 gym demo (though 2012-early 2014 was mostly designing pokemon)
