It's pretty good but the social link shit for the 3rd game in a row really ruined it for me.

Each persona is its own standalone story. The only thing you'll be missing out on are minor references to past games that have nothing to do with the story. The gameplay is one half high school sim, one half turn based rpg. For a turn based game its actually pretty fast paced and interactive. There's alot of synergizing moves between party members and resource/stat management

Music, combat, and style were excellent, but the story and characters were hot garbage, even for JRPG standards. Morgana might be the worst companion Ive ever seen if Teddie didn't exist, Ryuji, Haru, and Ann are completely irrelevant, Makoto is boring as shit, Akechi is laughably bad compared to Adachi, Futaba annoys me on a fundamental level for being massive otaku bait in a series infamous for being otaku bait, and the villains are shit besides Kamoshida and Kaneshiro. Still enjoyed the game, but people who think it's one of the best JRPG's, let alone RPGs, must not like the genre very much in the first place

Ryuji is a solid character.

Ann is pretty bland and Makoto is slightly worse

Yusuke, Haru, Akechi are actually worthless

Anyone else think it was a missed opportunity to have one of the villains who gets the calling card either

A) When it shows the alert meter climb to 99 it jumps straight back to zero because the character truly believes they are untouchable and they have to find another way to change their heart

B)Goes from 0 to 1000 and you have to fight some crazy enemies on the way to the treasure

Social link Ryuuji is a completely different character. Narrative Ryuuji is forced to be a boisterous retard for the entire game driven by vanity because the story couldn't think of a good overall motivation for the main characters.

I didn't watch Golden Animation, but I did like the Original Animation's Margaret fight.
If they add something that good, then I'd say it's worth it just for that.
