I personally enjoyed Zombie shooter 1 the best. I felt that the artwork and blood was the best, and it didn't have the dozens of completely outclasses weapons that some of the games had.

Holy fuck though, there were so many fucking enemies. I genuinely think there were TOO MANY FUCKING ZOMBIES at some parts. I recall a specific part of the game where you walk down a long corridor, which opens up into this HUGE room filled with literally hundreds of zombies, including some really high level ones. I pumped fucking all my blades and ammo into that fucking place and I still ended up needing to use my shotgun and almost died like 5 times. What the fuck.

>>
>>385691326
Maybe you'd be able to find someone if they didn't charge 80 fucking dollars for it on Steam.
>>
>>385691764
We can't all be poor. Also it has gone as low as 35 dollars during sales. Wargaming is just a niche within a niche, and then within that niche I am looking for people willing to set aside time over the course of about a 9-12 month period to play with me. The game has over 200 turns (unless one side fucks up massively). Most non-neets won't be inputting more than 1 turn a day on average, some days might see 2-3 inputs, and then other times there might be 2-3 days with 0 inputs depending on IRL commitments. I have one person who I play this game with long term, and one person who I binge play it with (blasting through the entire grand campaign in under 2 weeks during a holiday or so, or using weekends to input dozens of turns). The odds of me finding more people are slim to say the least.
>>
>>385692446
Imagine if this game used daily turns like WitP instead of weekly turns. Over 1200 turns, it would take you years to get through. I am already picturing 2 turboautists making a point of playing strictly one turn per day for a "real time" experience of WW2 I sorta want to be one those autists, it sounds cool, but I doubt I have the patience
>>
did I do good /v/?
>>
>>385692446
Yeah, it's niche, but pricing yourself out of the market only makes it worse. Games like Panzer Corps and some of the Decisive Campaigns games sold decently (for the genre) and got coverage on mainstream games journalism sites. Yeah, those games are not as ridiculously in-depth as WitE, but it shows that there are a few people out there who are into this sort of thing, or at least willing to learn. By getting into wargaming they've already taken the first step, so people getting into a simulation that detailed becomes a less tricky proposition.

Wargaming will never be as big as it once was, but with all the people who can put >1000 hours into flavor-of-the-year Twitch bait games, there are at least a few who can do the same for deep strategy. There are people who unironically defend stuff like Campaign for North Africa, the commitment you're asking for is less than that.

But not at $80 for a Steam key.

To be honest the only reason I never played CoNA myself was because of its 10 player requirement. I mean I would have been prepared to cut it down to 6 or even 4. But the game is simply not suited as a 1v1 game. Good luck finding yourself 9 other people to play through a 1000 hour game with you. I sincerely wonder if that game has ever been played from start to finish with full rules by anyone but the dev team.

I have however played world in flames start to finish. I also, to this day, have all the rules for advanced squad leader and all its various modules/expansions memorized.

The latter being a vastly more complex game than the other two mentioned when it comes to rules, but playtime is reduced to an afternoon, and player count cut down to 2.

Still though, the war in the X series takes the CoNA approach of viewing logistics per man, per plane, per car, per bullet even. So from that POV the two aren't THAT dissimilar.

Do you however reckon that if the game were priced at half its current listing it would sell double the units? Because I somehow doubt it. To me it would seem such a change would be attempting to target an audience that is more likely to get into HoI or some other less complex "long winded" wargame.

>>385694040
>Do you however reckon that if the game were priced at half its current listing it would sell double the units?
Doesn't have to be half the price, just a price that isn't completely non-standard for a video game. If it sold at, say, $50, they would definitely rope in a lot of people thinking "I like other stuff published by Slitherine/Matrix but I don't know if I can make this leap." Niche products selling at higher prices is a basic principle of capitalism, but in the end it's still a video game, and video games have inherently lower base prices than tabletop games. That's just the way it is.

Steamspy shows that WitE has sold around 8000, and if we consider that a lot of those are probably when it was on sale, a somewhat reduced price would probably come close to balancing out.

There's an entire new generation of budding wargamers out there who are figuring out just how deep the level of simulation they enjoy is, and I think ones with the biggest grognard potential have gone largely untapped. Besides, anyone who was going to buy it at full price has done so by now anyway...
>>
>>385694710
Its actually really good compared to every other rogue like. And i have probably played pretty much all of them, same with tactics games.

I did too, honestly. When you're into a niche genre and seek out people who are also into it, surrounding yourself with them makes it easy to forget you're in a tiny minority.

Well, it's up to the old guard to keep wargaming alive in an era where hobby magazines and local game shop sessions are mostly a thing of the past. I've tried on occasion to convert people who are into HoI, EU, Total War and such to something a little deeper, but it usually doesn't take. I suppose I should be happy that a lot of people are into WH40k if the alternative is nothing at all.

a) really hard to find now, often impossible
b) actually genuinely no one in any of these threads has played any of them
c) who even cares anyway

Though here's one that SOMEONE must have played: Phobia 3. Made by RedLynx, the guys who did Trials HD. It's like Crimsonland without a mouse, gun's on a 45 degree angle from where you're facing so it's possible to 'strafe'. It was really good for what it was. I spend ages just reading the news ticker in the main menu, the main theme's burnt into my brain.

Yeah, there's a presentation issue. I think one of the reason Paradox games are successful, besides being fairly shallow so even people who aren't good at strategy games can play them, is dressing it up with flavor events, dynamic maps, 3D models and so on. I think a lot of people who are both smart and patient enough to learn wargames are still turned away when they fire up a digital version of a tabletop game and get hit with a bunch of unit counters, info panels and an interface that, let's be honest, is often not good even considering what they have to work with.

I think that's actually one of the reasons the Decisive Campaigns series managed some mainstream attention. Even though it's more demanding than popular strategy games (not to imply it's the most complex wargame around, but it's definitely a step up), their decision/story system humanizes it and makes your commanders more than a name and possibly a stat block. If digital wargames did more stuff like that, putting a friendly outer layer to the rough mechanical simulation interior, maybe some of the Paradox types would get interested.

i typed like three paragraphs about how much i enjoyed the game after going back to it after 10+ years of not playing it then deleted all of it and wrote this.

it's a shame it was the final Army Men strategy game made in that style, it was a ton of fun to play and aged very well, there were only very minor quirks that really didn't put a large hamper on the fun, but that could just be my nostalgia, I put a rediculous amount of time into 1, 2 and toys in space, plenty of time to blind me good.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone post about it on /v/. It was always slightly P2W but it's really bad now and they've added AFK macro items to the cash shop, it's not worth playing. Oh I see what you mean, yeah it's pretty similar to that. It made Knight Online not purely item-based because of it, it was fun. Players with lower levels and worse gear could win against better players if they were more skilled, up to a point.

Sadly no, its a oblivion lookalike, not a console game, but around 2005 or earlier.
The game is a RPG of sorts, as far as i remember there is a green thing chasing you, it can be repelled and driven away by light, you can enter in shops but the creature will wait outside or just break in eventually.

I remember that due to rendering almost everything was black, you controlled a dude with a red thing on his head. Also, there were a lot of keys to find, i think. Main problem is that i can remember it entirely.

The Creatures series. I know others played it, but I don't see many people talk about it. It used to have so many mods, 3 was the best of course, but in some ways limited. It came among a wave of casual helicopter combat sims, this one was quite open, and you were a cop in a flying helicopter thing, helping the police in a future city, while trying to have minimum collateral damage. Many of those that played it didn't get that and just shot everything, which resulted in a game over.

Thinking about it, I realize I've never seen anyone ever mention pic related. It was surprisingly enjoyable, and those huge cities with plenty ships looks incredible.

Obviously I know people here would have played this, it was fairly popular back in the day, but I dont think it really ever got mainstream attention.

Shit was fun once you got good. So unforgivingly hard though when you first started playing

I actually have a retail version of this game, would provide pic if I could but have no camera.
Problem is, I can't get it to run on my PC because the game's just too old and I'm too lazy to figure out virtual machine stuff.
I remember that game being fun, but since I was used to playing RTS games where units were disposable, this game was suddenly insanely hard for me.
>>
I played this one game where you had a few people scavenging crates and building base camps in a top down view dinosaur infested wilderness.

Anyone know the name? Wanna play it again.

I´ve heard about this, but never played it. This was like an RPG and musou hybrid, right?

This was game where you build bridges is the sky from pedermined pieces and build buildings on the ends of those with static cannons and barriers to destroy the enemy island to capture their main woker unit.
It was called something like Netherstorm and I for the life of me can´t find a screenscreenshot of it. One of the rewiev sites in my country used to offer it as free dowload, even, and I can´t find that either.
