After replaying Tactics Ogre, FFT, Advance and A2 I'm starving

Valkryia Chronicles and modern XCOM 1/2 are pretty good. VC is probably more what you're looking for. Fire Emblem games too but I assume you got all of those as well. If not, Scared Stones (among others) is worth a play for sure.

But I guess I'll just wait for another price drop for Utawarerumono. With the sequel coming soon the price is bound to drop further. At around 20 it's worth checking out if the story is just enjoyable. Thanks for your reply.

I think I've exhausted most recommendable strategy games, played the shit out of every FE game, the XCOM games, Valkyria Chronicles 1 honestly could not suffer the second game. The only other genre I really enjoy are the first person dungeon crawlers, and I'm actually pretty certain I really did play all of them. Eagerly anticipating the release of EOV and Mary Skelter, but I'd really like a new Strategy RPG with some classic mechanics in the meantime.

God Wars is a great SRPG from a battle standpoint. Each character can have 3 jobs, the battles and maps look gorgeous, and tactically it's great. The only problem I had with it was the story, and kind of long tutorial. Big step up by Kadokawa, coming from their shit heap Natural Doctrine.

Nu Mous are alright in the early game when they shit out powerful magick compared to their peer races because of naturally higher Ma growth. Unfortunately they lack the toolkit to nuke like Ultima Shot or Magick Frenzied Dual Wields.

Really enjoyed the unique combination pf the atmosphere of the Fallout universe combined with the tactics genre. Very unfortunate to see the series in the hands of such a shitty dev. Not sure why fans of the core games didn't like it. Maybe it was just too different for their taste and they really just wanted more of the same.

Stella Glow was really good, quite unfortunate that the company sunk because they were clearly improving on their formula since the first Luminous Arc. Played through Stella Glow twice because I somehow missed the difficult to miss true ending. Was worth it though because of the second playthrough bonus time.


If anyone is else looking for another tactical RPG to play, Wild ARMs XF is quite good and has a system similar to the Job System. The game can be quite unforgiving in how easily the AI will beat down in you if you make a mistake.

Uta is VN with some very light SRPG sections, you don't play it for the gameplay, you read it for the story.
God Wars is a pretty good SRPG and definitely worth getting though, shame it got so little publicity

Stella Glow was slow to start for me but I liked it by the end, pretty sad that they sank before the game even came out really. As far as dungeon crawlers go that you may not have played, Arx Fatalis and Star Crawler are good. Arx Fatalis isn't turn or fully tile based, though. Stranger of Sword City too, I never finished it (other stuff came out) but I liked it enough. Art's really nice as well.

Keep in mind that Mask of Deception is Part 2 of a Trilogy though, you should really read/play the original Uta on PC first. It's pretty easy to find a download for it.

Front mission is an excellent franchise that you might like if you like srpgs and mechs

Pretty much all of them. Soul Nomad is one of my favourite games and I hate to see Gig and Revya miss from the D5 roster. It's also the only NIS title I'd really want to see a sequel of besides maybe Makai Kingdom, or at least a graphical update to make use of HD sprites.

I almost forgot Grand Kingdom. While not a grid like SRPG battles play out in 4 rows while your direct input effects the damage you deal, action bar depletion, and how many attacks you do. It's an interesting take on the genre and should be fairly cheap.

I think I put on 40 hours in this game before giving up because of how slowly my characters progressed and the complete absence of bringing new characters up to snuff without going into the online mechanics or the cash shop items. Honestly felt like a poor Grand Knights History despite the diamond in the rough gameplay. If it was handled way better it could make for a great new gameplay type.

You could bring newer characters up with the freeroam stuff, but it is very rime consuming. Hopefully a dev somewhere noticed and can improve on the formula a little.

Bastard Bonds is an option for PC if you're open for lots of naked men/orc cock with your SRPG.
