This is also the first thing that popped into my head. I remember reading an article about it in PC Gamer and was super excited about it. Then TF2 actually came out it and it was cartoony garbage.

This looked so rad. I remember these magazines called "incite" and they had sexy chicks on the cover.
One issue had a preview for tf2 with paratroopers and shit, looked so good!
My other obvious choice is PT.

Though my biggest woe is that the suffering creator made some weird top down cult investigation game instead of another ultimate badass spoopfest game.
The Suffering 3 or at least another action horror that was so creepy and so fun NEVER EVER.

I skipped the chance to demo Megaman Universe because I was so sure I'd buy it when it launched.

Gave me a certain je ne sais quoi when I was a kid. Same old Peach is kidnapped plot, but Intelligent Systems managed to go into depth with it to make it memorable.

Final Fantasy XV: Noctis and his bros actually being in the thick of it when the Empire glasses Insomnia. Shunting that off-screen is a complete betrayal of a good 75% of the advertisement trailers for the game.
