Your normals are only good if you can item cancel them. Otherwise they are unsafe as fug.

Always keep track of what's on screen, whether you can item cancel, when items will disappear.

Going my way is very + if it ends early but very - if it actually finishes. Meaty drill to go my way will bait throws and put you back on the ground safely.

2K, 5K, and 6P are your anti airs. 6P is very unsafe so make sure you have item cancel.

Watch videos to learn his oki options. He has the slowest but longest air dash in the game so learning to use j.2k FD cancel is very important to his mobility and mixups.

When you get a knockdown just run up and 2K them as oki. You can also mix people up with 6H->236S->H

Focus on tagging your opponents with f.S and 2H cancelled into items. If you get a counterhit with 2H you can cancel into scalpel pull 632146K. Scalpel pull is also not bad to throw out raw once in a while as your fireball.

Anti-air with 5K and 2K, jump cancel into j.K->j.S->j.H.

This is super basic stuff of course, but I kept it simple so you're not spending all day in lab.

Sure. Faust was once a doctor with almost messiah like healing abilities and was known for having exceptionally well bedside manner with child patients. He's also a legit genius among geniuses due to his ability to use Teleportation Magic on the fly (which is the most complex and difficult form of magic, to the point where it's discoverer was a mad genius and could only discover it without using it. Bedman and Izuna are the only other characters that can use it and Izuna happens to have it as a natural ability).

One day he tried a new procedure to save a terminally ill girl. Despite being uncharted territory it was almost guaranteed to work. He was unknowingly about to discover the secret behind resurrection, so the Conclave hired the assassins guild to sabotage the operation. Zato was the assassin who carried out the sabotage.

Faust lost his mind over the death of that girl who should have been fine and became a serial killer (named Dr. Baldhead by the press) in the closing days of the crusades (most of this was in the aftermath of Justice's first defeat). It's implied he has a victim count in the thousands due to their inability to escape due to his teleportation powers.

He regains his sanity at the end of Justice's second defeat due to a moment of lucidity and has a vision of the girl that died. She said her death wasn't her fault and pleads for the gentle, kind doctor he once was to return. He then lost his shit and disappeared. Presumably dead, but he actually faked his death and resumed his work as a back alley doctor under the alias Faust. Believing that his death is not atonement, he wants to save as many people as he can while looking for the truth behind the events that ruined his life.

His name before any of this is unknown. While he gained bits of his old self as Faust and holds feelings of bloodshed back as the Dr. Baldhead personality, his mind is irreparably scarred and his odd behavior is actually symptomatic of this.

Many of GG's odd creatures are from the aftermath of the crusades or actually various Gears. Gear cells themselves are a Frankenstein Cell made up of many different life form's cells mixed, chopped and fused with "information" from the Backyard. Hence why Asuka has various animistic features. It's a result of overuse of messing with Gear Cells. However other creatures in GG are results of leaked info from the Backyard creating life forms. While most Gears were either destroyed or went into hiding (like Dr. Paradigm's island), Australia in GG was the headquarters of the Gears under Justice during the crusades and most of the land in Australia has terraformed in bizarre, alien lands. Still unexplored by Xrd. Most magical creatures and life forms are expected to be in the otherworldly frontier that Australia became.

He was actually going to discover it by accident. I don't think he's interested in continuing it unless it will save lives. Another thing to note is that resurrection still has its limits. It tethers a soul to a body but not much else. Hence why Zato lost all his emotions when coming back. The Conclave only needed it to try to trick a merge with Justice, so they didn't care much about the details of *what* comes back besides the fact that something *will* come back.

I wish they'd explore it more. Although Dizzy's stage in Xrd, "Area 42" is one of the few explored places in Australia. So we saw a bit of it. Zappa himself is Australian so humans still settled there in frontier towns after the crusades. Kind of like Frasco (or Flask, not sure which), it's unfortunately underutilized in the setting.

I really dig Sol, I-No, and Jam, and cant decide which two i should choose to focus on. Any advice on who i should pick/ how i should pick? My results are pretty much the same with all 3 at the point i'm currently at, so any words of wisdom on what to look out for when deciding are helpful. And yes I understand that they are all low IQ.

Good thing she has a supportive friend like Anji to keep her centered. I'm interested to see what happens next, considering Anji figured out that she was mistaken and didn't realize that Asuka was a prisoner of the Gears that ruined her life. Anji himself worked for Asuka for a bit because he's naturally curious about everything and wanted to learn about the past. He stopped because he realized that he was involving himself in something very dangerous and the people of the colonies needed him and anyone else they can get to use Ki. He also gets Baiken to cool off a bit by promising to help her with her revenge quest if she helps protect the Japanese colonies. In actuality he's more aware than anyone how suicidal her quest actually is and wants to find a way to get her to give it up entirely.

Interestingly, we get a reminder of Slayer's inability to understand things like morality in his win quote to Baiken in Rev2. He finds some kind of poetic beauty in her quest and actually encourages her self destructive behavior. Because he can understand that humans would find that abhorrent, but can't understand why they would react that way.

I never really looked into the story of GG much, but my guy Potemkin is fucking rad so it'd be neat to hear a quick history, lorefriend.

The extent of my knowledge is that he used to be some sort of slave weapon, broke free, and is working to stop that kind of thing; also that he's so fucking strong that his armor is actually limiters and that with it off he's world-breaker levels.

Jam is probably the easiest of the three while Sol is an intermediate. I-no has a big execution barrier and is probably one of the hardest characters to optimize in the game period. Sol's gameplan is mostly around frametraps and reward for CH confirms. Jam is a pressure machine and mostly you cranking up the risc while piling on incredible pressure to get in like iad cross up genki. I-no is a set play monster. Her neutral's crap but once she can convert a knockdown you have to block her note, then her which is basically impossible since she has a bajillion mixups from fdc, hoverdash and the infamous j.d itself. If I had to tier how good they are I'd probably say I-no, Sol, Jam.

I personally play I-no so if you want tips for her shit I can help you there but as far which one to pick it's really on you to find which one clicks with you the most.

Pot is one of the most boring characters in GG though. Knockdown, safe jump, grab vs low, repeat. Also neutral is just slide head and hammerfall rc and grab or anti-air grab. Always. The skill comes from defense and having to use system mechanics to deal with pressure but you have so much HP and guts that you can make mistakes.

Sure. Basically when magic was discovered as an alternate technology, some people (mostly industry titans and political elites) didn't want to make the switch from fossil fuels and more conventional technology. These people formed their own nation in cites on giant floating airships.

After a while they managed to bring conventional science to advanced heights in a short time, but became a fascist dictatorship and relied mostly on slave labor for both their military and domestic economy. Potemkin was a child that was brought in for experiments on a "super soldier steroid" and was the only one who survived the dose. Albeit unevenly, which is why his lower body is much smaller. He was then drafted as a slave soldier as a child until adulthood.

His collar originally housed a bomb that would take his head off if he rebelled. Eventually, his CO Gabriel asked him to participate in the Second Holy Orders Knights Recruitment Tournament (the false tournament that became a bloodbath and the plot of GG1). Reluctantly Potemkin agreed and was able to perform well enough under Gabriel's guidance. While he was eventually defeated, Gabriel was impressed and asked him to help him overthrow the dictatorship of Zepp, as he was disgusted by how corrupt his nation was. He then removed the bomb in Potemkin's collar and replaced it with a device to help him manage his power. Gabriel then accepted Potemkin as a disciple and the two lead a revolution that ended with success around GGX2.

Potemkin's new military uniform reflects that he's no longer a slave soldier and is a legit warrior to a democratic nation. As well as his collar being replaced with cybernetic implants to help him continue to manage his power. As well as being much less invasive and easy to repair.

But the reason blazblue was even made was because Sega owned the rights to the GG series and didn't want to let ASW make another version. So in revolt ASW made a guilty gear knock off: blazblue for example ragna = Sol and Jin = Ky.

ASW were fixated on making guilty gear one way or another and when they pooled enough money from BlazBlue they outright bought the rights to GG from Sega and that's when Xrd started being worked on.

Mainline blazblue is now on hiatus while ASW is clearly working hard on their beloved series. GG is just ASW's baby.
Add that when looking at Daisuke Ishiwatari ASW's fightan genius' work he basically does everything for GG including being the main designer, composer, writer and director and that goes for the early GGs and the most recent. At ASW GG is a labor of love and they weren't gonna let it go.

Midrange rushdown character. Shits out damage, has oppressive pokes and has one of the best moves in the game: Beak Driver.

Sin is kept in check with the Calorie Gauge. Whenever you use Beak Driver, Bull Bash (Midscreen overhead), Vulture Seize ( huge air swing), Elk Hunt (Slide) and Hawk Baker (DP), you use up a portion of calories. You can chain these specials into each other as well for extra calories. You need to refill the calorie gauge by eating usually done at end of combos because if not, and you use up your calories, the next time you perform a special, Sin will enter a hunger state that will freeze him for atleast 3 seconds, open to be punished.

I would say he's easy to pick up and play. People hate him because he has such oppressive normals and range but it takes a certain self control and micromanagement over the calorie gauge to play him well.

Actually, while tons of stuff during CT and CS of Blazblue was was very similar, if not outright references to Guilty Gear, Ragna and Ky are direct juxtapositions to Sol and Ky.

Sol's design is more aloof, wild and despite his artwork often depicting him smiling in some way, before Xrd he was always angry, moody and grumpy. In contrast Ragna looks edgy, rough and angsty, but his personality is often calm, aloof and is often the most reasonable person. To further cement that Taokaka called Ragna "Goodguy".

Ky is someone who's responsible, polite and was defined for having a strong sense of justice to the point of being obstinate and his development relied on him coming to terms with how good and evil isn't as simple after the war. Jin on the other hand was a crude, cruel person who was defined of having little care for others outside of his goals.

Finally the relationship of Ky and Sol is an idealistic rivalry that initially started with Sol teaching Ky about freedom and they always had some for of fraternal respect for one another. On the other hand Jin and Ragna, despite being actual brothers, had a relationship mostly about Jin desperately trying to kill Ragna with some sexual undertones with it.
