Kinda wanted to buy Sun for the lion but my 3DS died

Fire Red was the last pokemon game I enjoyed, checked out the franchise again after like a decade only to see it become so bland and soulless it hurts.

Diamond/Pearl even though I liked it. Picked up Y and it was just so fucking easy and who actually thought expshare on the whole team was a good idea?

Had Blue, Gold, and Leaf Green, loved them. I got Ruby and thought it was just OK. Bought and finished Pearl and knew I'd probably sit out on pokemon for awhile. It was an OK game, and I did like all of the post game legendaries there were.

I did get X semi recently but it never clicked with me, only got like 2 gyms in before dropping it.

I didn't even know Gold and Silver existed for the longest time
I played the originals and didn't play another until Colosseum, than picked up again from Diamond.
Sun and Moon was pretty bad, think I'll skip S2M2

Last I played and bought were D/P, picked up Y when it was available for free as a promotion and validated my decision to drop the series.

I couldn't afford diamond as a teen, but a friend bought both pearl and diamond, and let me borrow diamond. Then I honest to god forgot to give it back, and we just never really talked again. Weird shit. Anyway, diamond was it. I played the HELL out of diamond, I went full autismo as a teen too, learned about IVs and EVs, did that exploit with emerald's battle arena city thing where you could use a gameshark and warp them out and they would be functionally legitimate pre-minmaxed, and I made a bomb ass team that way, and won a few gamestop pokemon tournaments even. I got a copy of white, which I played through up to where you're like, in a cave I think, then I fucked up somewhere and forgot to bring a potion, but I'd saved and all my mons were low on health and I couldn't get out, so I gave up there. I tried b/w2 briefly via emulator and it just was meh. A friend bought a 3DS just for x/y and let me borrow it for a bit (gave that back though) and it was just totally unengaging. I don't know if pokemon's changing or I'm just getting old.

I adored Red/Blue/Yellow/Gold/Silver/Crystal. They were my entire gaming world and life. When Ruby/Saphire came out I grabbed Ruby first and was horribly terribly disappointed and heart broken. After that I got Diamond because friends were hyping it, but that was disappointing too and I never bothered beating the elite 4 in it. That was the end for me. Sad shit

I played the original Blue back when it came out in 1998, then I played a bit of Pearl, but never bothered finishing it. It might just be that I'm a bit older than most people here, but I don't have the same level of nostalgia for Pokemon that most seem to.

Loved gens 1,2, 4 and 5 (I basically skipped 3). 3DS games have disappointed me greatly, none offer anything more than a streamline walkthrough the region. No exploration, minimal postgame in terms of facilities and collectable Pokémon. Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon might be decent for once since they're the third version at last. But it does feel like GF has forgotten half of what made the series great.

As for Pokemon I have only played up to W2/B2 or the Johto rerelease, whichever came first. Favorites are Soul Silver, Yellow, Fire Red, Platinum and White 2. I absolutely hated ruby/sapphire/emerald because I just don't like the art direction with those games, specially the Pokemon.

OP is an idiot but I dropped it after gold, and picked it up and dropped it again with Pearl. The designs keep getting worse, adding useless story to the games, cutscenes and long ass dialogue.

The spin offs were always better than mainline pokemon games.

Almost dropped it after Gen3 and Gen4 disappointed me. If it wasn't for the great work on HG/SS and a good friend hyping Gen5 I probably wouldn't have resumed playing the series. I played yellow and silver, then some of stadium 1 and 2, then they castrated us with the change in rse, so I haven't played those much yet.
I skipped dppt and went straight for white version, I had to force myself to finish it so I think my pokemon days are finally over.
