Because when it first became a thing the community didn't stamp it out and several games made a metric fucktonne of money before their game was even finished. Now its abused to fuck by devs hoping to cash in early.

On one hand, PUBG is a perfect contender for "it will never be finished" syndrome upon first glance. But on the other hand, it's a standalone game using an actual competent engine that is actually possible to optimize and is easier to work with. Like, if it was a Unity game, it would just be shit forever no matter what but it's an actual game engine this time. It also seems even more popular than most abandoned games so maybe that will be a driving force to continue development. Or maybe it will be a driving force to abandon the game quicker than ever. We'll see, it's like a little experiment I suppose.

I prefer glitches to 30 fps. They're both shit and I can tolerate both, but 30 fps is definitely worse.

This is the key part. If you do this the only thing you deal with is the game being glitchy, and glitches are better than locked 30.
