I'm finding it about the same as JC2.

It wasn't exactly bad, but it really didn't improve on 2 that much. Most of the liberation stuff is still repetitive as fuck, and while all those gear upgrades were a fun idea, locking them behind minigames was an absolutely horrid idea. If we imagine that JC3 was actually released in JC2's place in 2010, I would have most likely enjoyed it a lot more, but it was just too little evolution when released in 2014.

Too much generic open world trash (liberating bases for rebels, take over zones, etc).

Basically it's bland and uninspired, which is shocking considering how this game is supposedly about crazy over the top fun.

Sandbox fatigue. In 2010 people didn't have it that bad and thus enjoyed Just Cause 2, but when 3 was released everybody was already getting sick of generic open world action games.

The optimization was horrible when it first came out, which was a huge disappointment to me because Just Cause 2 is one of the most well optimized games ever made.

Aside from that it's good. It's basically JC2 with better graphics, more stuff, and a wingsuit, which is all I wanted. And the multiplayer mod quadruples its value.

The story missions are more generic, and the grappling gun was slightly toned down.

I loved it too, I thought the map was amazing and loved the addition of the wing suit, even though I originally had doubts about it.

It should be available from the start, and there should be little icons for their starting missions on the map. But I recommend waiting till you progress a good chunk if not complete the main game, the DLC stuff is pretty OP.

That said though, the jetpack is super fun. and easily the best thing any of the DLC's provide. It's even probably the most balanced too.
