I haven't put in too much time into the game yet because I've been juggling this and other games, but I'm enjoying it a lot. The long break for Splatoon 1 probably helps.

Only just hit level 11, but I've been killing it turf war. Haven't done too much ranked, but hit C rank in splat zones last night

I feel you. It's kind of crazy seeing so many people flock to the weapon. I was an S rank octobrush noveau player in Splat1, and I rarely saw anyone else with the weapon at that rank.

I honestly think it has the best kit it could right now. Beacons are too team dependent, and the autobombs are fantastic for forcing people into your range. The only thing that might make the kit better would be swapping inkjet for tentamissles. Tentamissles seem like a great special for any weapon

The thing with the octobrush, buckets, and blasters is that they force you to fight them by surrounding you in their ink as soon as they decide to pick a fight with you. It's very difficult to get away or even just make some distance. They also all excel as ambush weapons, which means they do better the more thoroughly you're already being stomped by the enemy team because they have more ink to hide in, which exacerbates associating them with getting your shit kicked in.

I always liked the brush weapons in the first game but by the time I got one I was already losing interest in the game. The octobrush was available in this game from day one so I picked it up. For Turf War, I've mostly been using the Tentatek Splattershot. Really good weapon, currently Super Fresh with it, regularly finish with a lot of splats and the most turf inked on my team with it. Been experimenting a bit with the Splattershot Pro, and I just bought one of the dualies that I want to try out as well.

For Splat Zones in ranked, I didn't stick around too long because I don't like the mode, but I've been used the Aerospray, Slosher, and Splattershot Pro to try experimenting with things

It's faster, has a wider spread, has a decent sub and is one of the weapons with the much coveted ink armor.

It was one of the main weapons I used in 1, but the relative lack of weapons in 2 compared to the end of 1 means it has an opportunity to really shine. Same with the N-Zap.

I don't know how stupid you have to be to think that pointing out a selection of mid/close-range burst damage weapons and saying they do particularly well in ambushes implies that other weapons don't also benefit from the advantage. The octobrush is also not particularly short range and can speed through enemy ink unimpeded. Long range weapons that see them coming will be able to take them out, I never said they were invincible, but you're a retard if you think "any amount of awareness" makes you completely immune to ever being snuck up on.

The octo brush and Dynamo roller shoot out huge blobs of ink that can basically absorb/cancel out smaller weaker shots.

You'll notice this when you are shooting them point blank only to be killed or kill each other simultaneously.

Thats why people hated the Dynamo so much back in splat 1 because even when you sneak up on them they somehow manage to kill you or you just both die at the same time

I don't even know what you think my argument is because I pointed out a couple of strengths it has in one post and don't ever complain about it because I use the thing. The strength to its range is the wide spread, you can hit a lot of people at once with it without needing to be good at aiming, and you can aim it up and hit things on the other side of obstructions.

My original point to saying those weapons do great in ambushes was in comparison to themselves, in other, non-ambush situations, because what I was fucking talking about was what about them could easily make players feel frustrated. Because they do better in ambushes (than themselves, when not ambushing, not ALL other weapons in the same situation), it's likely that the only times you die to these weapons are from ambushes which makes you associate them with just suddenly dying out of nowhere, whereas with a splattershot or a 96 gal or something, even though those would also do well if they snuck up on you, they can also just shoot you in the face so you aren't going to associate them with it the same way.

I've updated this set to instead use Half-Rimmed Glasses, and I was told to get white norinaki 750s, but I happened to get black norinakis as well. I'm not sure if white would look as good with my shirt & tie as black would, but it might. However, the black norinakis start off as 3 star gear so that saves me getting a snail since I'm only level 16 (I've not been playing 24/7, please understand).

Best Strat: Just wear literally whatever looks good. They watered down the abilities this time to the point where they barely matter. Maybe get Ink Saver (Main) and Ink Recovery Up in a couple main slots, if you really want them. Your weapon choice matters more than what's on your gear.

A spla2n scroll states that scientists discovered that in reality, ink dissolved from microbes in the air. You have the right idea and you've chosen pretty much the best main slot abilities. But brands DO matter.

Each brand has a higher chance of rolling a certain ability and a lower chance of rolling another. For example: Forge has a higher chance of rolling Special Power Up but a lower chance of rolling Ink Saver (Sub). So if you want to grind for Special Power Up, you would equip a Forge piece of gear and keep scrubbing it until you have enough Special Power Up chunks for what you want.
