You should know that by then if you'd been paying attention. It's not a huge twist. Yuna said that she was hoping to see her uncle Cid again when she was kidnapped by the Al Bhed at the Blitzball tournament, which is when you find out that Yuna is half Al Bhed. Cid had already been established as Rikku's father in the early game. Connect the dots.

Zanarkand is just an illusion created by the Fayth. Destroying Sin for good makes all the Fayth disappear, and Tidus dies since he's just part of the illusion they created. The monster capturing quest isn't worth it. Yuna's voice actress was told to read her lines like that. FFX-2 is better than people give it credit for in hindsight.

It's not the best, but it's still one of the good ones, and also quite accessible. If you don't like it, then the series just isn't for you- no shame in that. I'd have recommended FFVII to be your make-or-break introduction to the series, though.

I don't think I'd be able to play VII now, honestly. So many memes and references came of it that the story will have a much lesser impact for me. From Aerith's death, to all the Sephiroth memes and jokes. Conversely, I know nothing about VI or XIII, but VII is the one FF I probably was the most exposed to on the net.
